Oh the weather outside is frightful...

☀THE WARM AND TOASTY MEME☀
The situation: It is dreadfully cold. Think 'ice cave where all those slash fics are set'.
The goal: Keep each other warm tonight!

☀ STEP ONE: Comment with your characters. One comment for each character.
☀ STEP TWO: Other people reply to your characters.
☀ STEP THREE: Both participants are aware that they should/must keep nice and warm. To do that, you need to bundle up nice and closely, however grudgingly. No, killing your threadmate and cuddling the body doesn't count.
☀ STEP FOUR: Keep 'em warm! Hot cocoa, hot coffee, hot tea, hot mustard, or other suitably warming beverages will be provided if you cooperate.
☀ STEP FIVE: Lulz ensue!

((Basically just a winter-themed cuddle meme, with evil ideas from Shae and Col. Add some cuddle urges in the air if your characters won't otherwise cooperate but you want them to.))

It had happened to him too, then? Billy was in good company.

He would've smiled for her were he able, but was instead reduced to a quivering and laughing mass of human. Billy wiggled, helpless in laughter until he got enough of a hold on himself to do something.

Ah, yes, the Bond-tickle. He loved that trick.

Katara shook her head. "You became a book. Now hold still."

She carefully started to pour the hot water over him. "Also, people need to learn how to take of literature better. Sorry that you were just left like that."

And she's off to get a towel.

And Katara did tear up, and held Starfire close too: as it turned out, sad stories ran deep betwixt the two of them, but she couldn't even imagine what Starfire said to her happening.

"That's awful. With the water tribe, family is everything. My brother and I had to look after each other when my dad left for the war. If we didn't have each other..."

She hugged her tightly, feeling sorry for her and loving her courage at the same time. She always had a smile on her face, and was always friendly. She was so brave.

She could give him stories, all right.

And THAT would teach him for that teasing earlier. Of course, it had slipped her mind that Billy could retaliate because of their Bond.

"No, NOO!" she shrieked, laughing and falling over. "Billllyyyyy!"

"Yes, haha! You're not the only one in charge!"

The blanket was probably slipping off them, but the laughing kept him feeling warm enough not to care. He was content to watch her writhe while he made silly faces.

Life was good. They were already acting like silly kids again.

"I eventually found my friends, old and new," Starfire answered with a wavering smile. After a moment, her happiness solidified. "All was not lost, all was not sad. A brighter morning came."

And that was enough for her, she decided, hugging Katara in thanks. "It will come here as well."

"You're horrible!" she commented, but decided not to go after him this time. After all, Billy would have plenty of time to recover, and then they would have a fair tickle attack where they were evenly matched.

That, and all of the squirming was definitely making her warm, and so she did attack him at least a little, grinning.

"Revenge!" She hissed.

"Absolutely!" Yup, not getting to him with that...but with the tickling coming back in his direction, he started to relent. Billy twisted this way and that, laughing desperately. It really did warm him up, he had to admit.

"...guess we're---haha----both horrible."

She grinned. "Darn right," she said. "I've met more friends here who've all helped me grow, like I said before. And I can tell you something Starfire: that you're such a bright, happy person is more than enough proof that we can all become better than how we were before."

Not that she meant the good times back then: she loved those times with the GAang. But if she had to be without them here, at least she had people who were like that.

And she hugged back, laughing. "I think we're both warming up now!"

"WAAAAAAAAAGH!"

Cold book plus hot water equals one startled yell. The tome quivered with suprise and shock for a moment, then flapped open and shut. "Ha! I can open again!"

But he can't stand up.

Crap.

"Uh, I guess next time I go out into a snow storm, I need to pick a minion wearing more clothing to carry me."

Good idea, but, uh, won't you get cold if you're not moving?

[Not to mention he's still pretty icy]

"Yes we are!" She shot back, attacking and getting back just as much, both of their laughter. At this point, she was actually out of breath, but pretty warmed up now: enough so that she actually crawled out of her blanket for a moment.

"I...think...the bond...has some warming qualities," she panted. "I..forgot...I was cold!"

Katara raised an eyebrow. "Don't tell me you had that poor minion out here with barely any clothes! I swear, you come from as perverted a world as Negi!"

She rubbed him down with the towel, tutting and picking him up. "Feeling better now, Overlord?"

"I can't say that I mind," he added, flat on his back with his arms spread and looking up at her. "It's really helped."

The blankets were still pooled over his legs, and Billy left them there for now. He needed to catch his breath too. "Is this what you did at home?"

I will move, do not worry.

[Zooming around to start a fire now. There---some scraps from the wilderness and a torn piece of her shirt should help. One blast gets the glowing warmth started. She positions him close enough to warm, but not in any danger of burning.]

"It wasn't what I had in mind!" Katara protested, still giggling a little. How was it that every time she and her Bonded got together, tickling has to somehow get involved?

At the question, Katara raised her eyebrow. "You mean the tickling or the blanket? Because we didn't really need either."

Clearly it's entirely Renne's fault. He thought as much, indicating to her with a subtle nudge that they should get him next time.

"Oh, I see. You had all the warm clothing you needed." Which he should've packed. "My friends didn't really tickle either, unless someone was deemed to be too depressing. It was then an effective weapon."

He remembered Zack and Kimberly's antics quite well.

"Well that, but also keep in mind that I lived in a place that was all water and ice. We're definitely used to the weather, and we know how to bundle up. This type of weather is the norm."

She laughed. "Well in that case, don't YOU get too depressed, o you're going to be attacked, ok?"

She grinned. "Now, about getting you a girlfriend..."

"Got it, ma'am," came Billy's meek response. He wasn't ready for another tickling so soon, and he knew well that Renne would join her at a moment's notice.

...girlfriend? What? Billy sat upright in a hurry, blankets tugged to his chest. "I'm fine, Katara. I have other friends I can ask to dances if necessary, and I have more time for work without a relationship."

Admittedly he was curious about dating, but this wasn't a good time for him. He'd never managed it on earth because a Ranger going out with a civilian would have caused a whole platter of problems, and Trini and Aisha weren't his dates. Even if he'd sometimes thought about Trini.

"That's how female warriors dress! I don't control Netherworld fashion!" the book sputtered. "Besides... they are DEMONS, you know. When your world starts using belts as bras I'll sure they'll let you offer opinions on the matter."

He's got some of his bluster back, so he must be feeling better, right? "You've got a pretty strong maternal instinct, don't you?"

You can start fires with that?

That's actually pretty impressive. I thought they were just generic bolts of energy.

It is solar energy. If I apply it to a small area and intensify the heat, it will ignite the material.

[She creeps closer to it, curled into a ball for warmth.] Are you defrosting?

"Good," she said in a no-nonsense type of a voice. "And make sure it goes the same for me or for Renne. Can't have me being a hypocrite, after all."

She grinned. "Oh come on Billy. We're friends, we can talk. Isn't there any girl here that's caught your eye, that you've just wondered what it would be like if she shared some of your happier times with, someone you can take care of and vice versa?"

Katara snickered. "I'll bet not, but you sure don't seem to mind it either, Mr. perverted Overlord." She was just teasing now, as the only time she remembered him being quite that way was when he was drunk, and even then it was that girl minion that had gotten handsy. Talk about inappropriate.

She shrugged. "I had to take care of my brother and a lot of the village children when the men went to war against the Fire nation. I didn't have a choice. Besides, mom was gone, someone had to do it."

She didn't mention she a) liked it and B) was used to it by now.

"Count on it," he responded seriously. They wouldn't get too down with him around...or some rhyme that one of his friends likely would have made.

Billy blushed, playing with the edges of the blanket. "It all sounds wonderful, I'm sure, but I've never really..."

Should he answer this?

"...I've thought about asking Sofia to dance again. We've always had fun with each other, and I'd like to know her, but I know she'll be busy organizing the prom.
