•Mistletoe Meme!•

The Situation:
Crew members who were on Stacy last December remember this. Because GLaDOS is a troll, she has positioned little sprigs of mistletoe on the ceilings of areas of the ship. In hallways, at the entrances to quarters, in a department doorway, at a tavern, she doesn't care how inconvenient it is!

It'd be less inconvenient if it were voluntary, but in this case, the sneaky AI has deployed shields around people who wander under the mistletoe that have not been broken by any known alternate method so far. Any attacks against the shield are absorbed. Attempts at attacking the mistletoe get you singed. The only way to be freed from the confines of your little bubble is to receive some form of affection from another crew member---a strong hug will work for the really uncomfortable, but at least a cheek kiss is expected for most. If GLaDOS wants a mouth kiss, though, let her push for one! Species equivalents of kisses/affection are also acceptable.

So---you're stuck until someone comes to rescue you with a kiss, kids. Have fun, thank you for participating in this crew study experiment, and watch out for the nargles!

[Flies up and down the column, pokes at it, blasts it, no dice. She finds what's on top.]

Is this plant hiding the shielding device?

[She pokes it, blasts it, and gets slightly singed for her efforts.]

[Sasami stops just outside the barrier and notices Starfire all confused and trying to get out.]

S-Star-chan! How did you get in there?! A-Are you okay?!

Sasami!

[She points a starbolt to light up the mistletoe]

I flew under this plant and became trapped. Do you recognize it?

[Sasami looks up and blinks.]

Oh! That's mistletoe! ...you've never seen it before?

I have heard murmurings about the tradition, but I have not seen it before now.

These barriers were not part of it, were they?

I... don't think they are...

[she starting to put two and two together and she's not liking the outcome.]

And you can't get out at all? Hmm... maybe if we... [she reaches in to grab Starfire... and gets stuck in between.] ACK!

I see, then perhaps we can---

[Hey! That's dangerous, and now they're stuck.] Are you well? What did you mean to suggest?

I was hoping that I could pull you out if I reached in... but now that we're stuck in here... [she lets out a sigh, rubbing her sides a bit - that stung just a tad!]

Now what...?

Starfire nodded slowly, pounding against the shield.

"I have been told that people who stand underneath this plant are meant to kiss, but surely she cannot intend..."

She's not sad because she despises the act of kissing, it's a worry about Sasami and her boyfriend.

Sasami blushes at the idea. The two of them? Kiss?

"Sh-she wouldn't...! I-I mean, I..." Sasami stammers. Negi wouldn't do anything bad if they had to... right? And it was just a one-time thing...

"Mmmn...!"

"I know it is upsetting. Would you prefer to wait or contact someone else?"

Starfire still worried. She wanted her friend to be comfortable.

Sasami lets out a deep breath, considering her options.

"...I don't mind, Star-chan." she said, smiling to reassure her. "Besides, it's just for this, right?"

"Yes, and then we will avoid these plants."

Starfire nods, leans down, and gives her friend a light peck on the cheek.

"Right."

She closes her eyes, blushing as Starfire kisses her cheek. As she does, she gives Star a peck in kind. "It wasn't so bad..."

{Peter cocks his head]

Something tells me you aren't practicing to be a mime.

"I am not."

And she fires a blast at the barrier to prove it---it gets absorbed by a cylindrical shape that seems to be around her.

Peter reached out to touch the field, and pulled back as his spider-sense went off.

"And judging by the spider-sense jolt I just got, it's a one way field. Things go in but they can't get out. Why would anyone do-" Peter looked up.

"...Oh you have gotta be kidding me. What is this, "Extreme Holiday Traditions"?"

"I hope it does not become any more extreme," she sighed. "I cannot remain here all day long."

"Well, we can sit here and try to figure out how to turn it off, which could take hours, or we could go with the quicker and more awkward route implied by the mistletoe."

"I believe I know what it requires. Do not worry, I am not offended. On my planet it can be an informational gesture."

"Alright. Here goes."

It wasn't like he was cheating on Gwen, really. For one, he'dve had to be actually dating Gwen to do that, and this was really just to help out Starfire. With a little hesitancy, Peter entered the field, and lightly pressed his lips to Starfire's.
