You knew this was coming

Mistletoe Meme!

The Situation:
Crew members who were on Stacy last December remember this. Because GLaDOS is a troll, she has positioned little sprigs of mistletoe on the ceilings of areas of the ship. In hallways, at the entrances to quarters, in a department doorway, at a tavern, she doesn't care how inconvenient it is!

It'd be less inconvenient if it were voluntary, but in this case, the sneaky AI has deployed shields around people who wander under the mistletoe that have not been broken by any known alternate method so far. Any attacks against the shield are absorbed. Attempts at attacking the mistletoe get you singed. The only way to be freed from the confines of your little bubble is to receive some form of affection from another crew member---a strong hug will work for the really uncomfortable, but at least a cheek kiss is expected for most. If GLaDOS wants a mouth kiss, though, let her push for one! Species equivalents of kisses/affection are also acceptable.

So---you're stuck until someone comes to rescue you with a kiss, kids. Have fun, thank you for participating in this crew study experiment, and watch out for the nargles!

((Characters not in the game are of course welcome to join too! It's just on this community this year because it's proven difficult to fit the event around December's plots.))

*glances up*

Please don't tell this is the ship's idea for a holiday tradition now?
bonnypiperlad: (Riiight.)

[Jamie wanders in from the other end of the corridor, spotting the mistletoe just in time. As a result, he's currently on the other side of the forcefield.] Aye. Some tradition. Are ye stuck, then?
bonnypiperlad: (So...)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2010-12-13 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
Aye, I was earlier as well. Ye would think GLaDOS would have come up with some other way to study us instead.

Look, there's no sense in ye staying trapped in there. I'll come in.

[He starts towards the forcefield, but is still far enough away that Kate can stop him if she prefers.]

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2010-12-14 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
You would think... hey wait, no! You don't need to be trapped too.
bonnypiperlad: (seriously?)

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2010-12-14 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Jamie arches his eyebrows, but stops before he passes through the forcefield.] Well, if ye would prefer I go find someone else to kiss ye and get ye out of there, I will. But if it's anything like it was last year, ye may be waiting a while.

*slumps with realization*

Ok, it's a fair point. Rather it be a friend anyway.

[personal profile] bonnypiperlad 2010-12-14 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
Good. Don't worry, I'll have ye out of here in no time.

[Jamie's fairly confident that this will be the case. Just because GLaDOS made him jump through hoops before doesn't necessarily mean she will this time...maybe. He finishes crossing over to where Kate is standing, and leans in to plant a friendly kiss on her cheek.]

There. That should do it.

It was so disruptive last year that it could only hope to replicate its success!

[Billy is grouchy, yes.]

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Apparently. You're stuck too?
morphitudinous: (...what in the name of)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-12-13 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
[Tests.] Affirmative.

This trick is getting old. Hasn't there been enough data collected by now?

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I know, but nooo, guess not.

*steps closer* Well know how it works at least?
morphitudinous: (A majestic unicorn?)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-12-13 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, GLaDOS. We really appreciate this. [grumble-grouch]

Fortunately, yes, but that doesn't mean we have to like it. I'm sorry, Kate.

[Moving closer, peers at her] It's not Christmastime, but...I'll wish you a good time anyway.

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Would it count as self defense to send a tornado her way?

*slight smirk at that*

Kidding, mostly. And it's fine, we're teammates and friends. No big, right? And you too. Happy holidays.
morphitudinous: (Display of affection)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-12-13 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
I wish it did. [Grin.]

Right, no big deal. Happy holidays...whenever they are. [Leans and kisses her cheek]

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs lightly, and smiles before she turns to leave*

Huh? *comes to stop, and feels for the shield*

....We got a problem.
morphitudinous: (:()

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-12-13 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
[He frowns and touches it too] It's still there for you too? Then it wants...drat.

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah looks like.

Hopefully not tongue at least? *grimaces as she realized*

Did I just jinx us? I think I did.
morphitudinous: (Searchlight)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-12-13 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
[Blinks and shakes his head] I hope not, but maybe if we hurry we'll be let off easily...

[Sighs and takes her shoulder] This'll work, right? [Smile for confidence.]

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
*nodded and reached up to touch his shoulder in turn*

Yeah, of course it will. Can laugh afterward about it.

*leans in to touch her lips against his*
morphitudinous: (Display of affection)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-12-13 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
Then that should be all right.

[Kisses her lightly, then withdraws to touch the barrier] It's gone. Let's go before we're caught again. And...I'm sorry about that.

[identity profile] nothawkingbird.livejournal.com 2010-12-13 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
*shakes her head* Don't worry about it, Billy. Anything to help another friend, right?

So ready to leave though. *agrees as she turns to leave*
