Kaylee has had plenty of practice in holding back hair with River's little episodes. She rubs Katara's back, as comfortingly as she can with her free hand, and takes the basin after she's finished.

"Thanks," Katara groaned. "I guess...I should take it easy from now. I'm going to be good to anyone like this. Now where's the bed again?"

Her head's getti8ng all dizzy again.

"Rest'll do you some good."

Frowning, Kaylee reaches to check Katara's forehead again. "You're on the bed, bao bei..."

"I guess you're right," Katara sighed, trying to find a place to steady herself.

"I don't fell too well now."

"No, don't suppose you do." If just the heat coming off of Katara's forehead is any indication... "You lie back, 'M gonna go see if I can hunt you down somethin' to take."

"Thank you," she said, coughing a bit and then lying back. "I'm sorry for earlier, I really didn't expect to do anything like that. It was pretty gross."

She closed her eyes, exhaling sharply.

"I've seen worse. Least you kept it all goin' one place, yeah?" It wasn't Anywhere and Everywhere like when River went off. Less clean-up is better.

Kaylee returns a few minutes later with the appropriates--saltines, ginger ale, tylenol, all that good sick stuff.

"I guess," Katara muttered, sniffling. Great, now her sinuses were betraying her. Lousy contagious sickness. "If it went everywhere I don't think I could show my face in the Dragon again."

Then she saw what Kaylee was bringing and wrinkled her nose. "What's all that stuff?"

"Strongly doubt that."

Tylenol first. Kaylee holds up one of the pills. "All stuff to help make you at least a bit more comfortable. This'll help with the fever, and everythin' else'll help to settle your stomach as need be. Mind, won't stop the throwin' up, but it'll at least give your stomach somethin' to work with..."

"Well," Katara said, "I wouldn't go for a long time anyway."

She took the pill, staring at it as if it were something from another planet. "So you're saying this small white thing is going to somehow settle my stomach? How do you fit all the herbs in it?"

"Won't settle the stomach, no. That's what the ginger ale's for. But the pill'll help with the fever."

She knew she would probably sound stupid asking, but she had to know.

"How will the pill do that? What's inside it?"

The ginger ale, that made sense. It had ginger, after all, which she knew was an herb.

"Got a few different ingredients to it that work together to help with the fever and and headache you get that might come with it."

She doesn't exactly know how. Simon's the doctor on Serenity, not Kaylee. She just knows that it works.

The future is definitely a strange place, if you were able to swallow a piece of chalk and it was somehow able to make you feel better. She trust Kaylee though, and swallowed it quickly as a sign of good faith.

"Thank you for watching me," she said, putting the blanket over her flushed face. "You didn't have to, y'know."
