Given time...I don't think I'll be as solidly secure as you, but there might be hope for progress yet. There was really no reason to fear.

[This is normally a 'hello, who are you and what have you done with Kang' action. But Billy, by some power, finds this comforting enough to come even closer and find a place to fit his arm around Kang.]

...were you ever worried about that sort of problem?

[He quirks an eyebrow ridge, at the question, and the physical affection.]

She laughed, hugging the older woman. "I've been doing a lot. But I'm also podded, and am currently going through some changes. In any case, it will still me, all right? Just, different name and stuff."

[This is odd affectionate conversation, but he's going to try to roll with it. He feels too...safe and cuddly, even with Kang, to leave now. And hey, he's not being pushed off. That's the shock of the century right there.]

In her lacy jammies, lollipop in mouth and looking plenty embarrassed at Katara popping out of the blue.

"K-katara?! H-hey!"

"Yeah, turns out the Sensoriums can trick your brain into thinking you're drunk, too. Thought it might be better, since you're still insisting on being thick." She gives him a very level gaze, but as much as she wants to slap him she also wants to bury her face in his shoulder again and hug him. It's conflicting. She bites the split in her lip. "Alcohol is what, fifty percent placebo effect anyway?"

"So many names to remember. You're just going to stay Muchacha, alright? Makes it easier on my poor old brain." She laughs. "You'll be alright, at least?"

Katara had to laugh at the way that the two of them were situated: what on earth was Ronnae doing with that strangely looking phallic thing in her mouth at this moment?

"Hi!" She greeted, giving the redhead a hug. "Are you ok?"

"Dean, I'm sorry about being such a royal pill at the tavern earlier. Is a hug a suitable apology or should I get you drunk first?"

She laughed, hugging Eva tight. "Yes, I'll definitely keep that name, and not just because it makes it easier in you. I always liked that name you gave!"

She nodded. "Yes, definitely. Thank you!"

"A man with your complexion shouldn't look so gloomy. You're just filling a stereotype, there, ¿cachai?" She puts a hand on Goliath's hand.

...well, there is some good news on that front. I can't give you details, but if things go well, the yeerks should have bodies of their own within the week.

[He wants to hug her as well, and he's not really sure why.]

Ronnie took the lollipop out of her mouth before speaking, she hugged Katara back a bit embarrassed. "Yeah I'm fine. Jus' wasn't expecting company." Which was clear from the less reserved sleepwear she was wearing.

"See, that's the magic about speaking a second language. You can call people random nouns and everyone thinks you've bestowed a beautiful, exotic gift on them," she says with a chuckle, still hugging Katara and patting her head. "How's the pod? Warm and snotty?"

Oh, Katara didn't mind at all! It was one of those things that she knew that richer girls were able to wear because they had the fabric and all. She hugged back, and playfully prodded Ronnae's tummy.

"Have you and Billy been ok?"

"Yay," she says dryly. "I'll believe when I see Tom back as the doofy kid he is, not as that cruel...well, anyway, when I can expect to talk to Tom and not get needled by the slavemaster again."

Needled?

[frown]

"Oh come one, don't patronize," Katara scolded, grinning. "You told me what that means, and its very sweet. Don't act like it isn't!"

She wrinkled her nose. "I don't want to be in the pods again. I like it here, right now."

She nodded timidly, still blushing.

"Yeah, things have been good. A bit too heavy of a workload. But we've been good. How have you been Katara?"

"He had some choice words for me and used Tom's memories to find my weaknesses. What, were you expecting something less from him?" As much as she's got dry, flat anger in her voice, there's a little tremble on the word 'weaknesses'. She blinks a little too much. Iniss really got under her skin.

"If people find out I'm sweet, my reputation as a hard-as-nails bitch will be ruined. You have to keep it between us!" she says with fake seriousness.

She squeezes Katara a little closer. "You'll be back soon. I'm sure of it. Stacy must just have pulled the wrong file or something. You're too vital here to go missing long."
