Okay, rocks fell, everyone died. Too bad, valiant meatshippers! But the good news is that you've all be reincarnated!

...as baseline humans on modern Earth.

Maybe you're waiting at a coffee shop, and you spot someone out of the corner of your eye that looks strangely familiar. Maybe instead of strangers from universes far apart, you and your close CR are now childhood friends who have always been together. Maybe you meet a former enemy as a friend, or a former friend is now a bitter enemy.

Ronnae followed, looking very happy amongst the animals. Petting and nuzzling them close to her, hugging them happily as they cheerfully licked her face.

Looking at all the colorful fish also brought a smile to her face. Fish was something she had considered, since they were most they were the most accepted pets in apartments. And they came in such pretty colors! Plus the accessories you could add to a tank could make it into an amazingly pretty decoration.

He'd already moved on to the gerbils and hamsters, watching them run through their little maze and roll around in the exercise wheel. He squatted down the look at the small balls of fur that were sleeping in one corner of the cage, a smile on his lips.

"I think the furry animals are the best, though I have a soft spot for aquatic creatures."

"Yeah, they're so hugable! But the water ones are totally cute~! What's your favorite Nokosi?" she asked curiously as she tickled under a hamster's chin.

"Sharks," he answered almost immediately. "My favorite are the sharks though very few pet stores carry those animals. They're large and graceful with a reputation that they don't deserve. Shame, too."

"But," he continued, peering over into one of the tanks with lizards. "I like the turtles, too. Reclusive creatures and they take a bit to coax them that out of their comfortable hiding spot. When you manage to get close to them, though. They'll be with you for life. Longer than one would live, usually."

"There's miniature sharks, like the dwarf, or pigmy shark. Lemon Nurse sharks don't grow past one foot long too. There's actually a big variety of sharks that you could keep as pets..." She paused, the heat rising on her cheeks at her little rant before she turned her attention to something else so she could hide her face.

"Y-yeah, I like sharks and turtles, they're pretty neat."

"Yes, I've looked into those," he said, crouching down to look at the ferrets that ran around excitably in their cage. "But my apartment doesn't allow pets. A bowl full of fish, they might be okay with. A shark? Not so likely."

He sighed and rested his elbows against his thighs so he could cradle his head in his hands. "Oh well. It's not that bad I suppose, even if I do really like animals...." After a beat he spoke up again. "I did get to see some pretty huge sharks when I was in Thailand."

"If they allow fish, they'll allow sharks. It's not like the sharks will grow to go eat people... And it's not like they could fly..." She rolled her eyes at how dumb some people were at times. She wouldn't be surprised if they actually thought that.

"You were in Thailand?" She asked as she turned around curiously.

"Hrm," he hummed, rubbing his lip with a finger. "You're pretty much right. Maybe I can renegotiate with them. See what they say."

He fell silent for a long moment as he watched the little creatures run, hop and play. This was the problem with him and pets; he never wanted to separate the siblings.

Finally he bobbed his head once. "I did, during that time I was away. I'm pretty glad I arrived long after that whole, messy coup d'etat deal was done with. Banning political activities and martial law. Would have been a bad place to be in."

"Wow~ That's pretty cool Nokosi! Well, except the latter part that you said. I bet the place looks wonderful tho! It sure looks amazing when you see it on tv."

"Yes, it did, as did many of the other places I visited. The television, books and such? They don't do it justice at all. Maybe you can see it one day, too because I hope to revisit it."

Nokosi stood and stretched, suppressing a yawn. "Last week they had this very adorable husky cub here," he explained. "I wanted you to see it but it seems it's been purchased."

"Awww, I would have loved seeing it! I love huskies! They're so incredibly adorable and cuddly~" She pouted a bit, leaning against one of the pens and smiling again as a bunch of pups tried climbing the fence to get her attention.

"They are," he simply said in agreement. "Though these dogs are just as cute."

Nokosi began rubbing one on the tummy and scratching its little chin before tossing a quick glance at his friend.

"Would you like one? Or anything here?"

"I'd love one actually... I've been thinking about getting a pet... or pets... But I can never make up my mind... And since I have free decoration privileges in my apartment as long as I don't throw a party... Which really... Me? A party?" She sighed, trying to play off a smile before looking away.

"A-anyways, ummm y-yeah, I think I might today... Depends on if I can make up my mind."

"Oh? Well what attributes are you looking for in a companion, Ronnae?"

It had come out sounding like a bit of a double entendre; not that he minded. Maybe it would give him some insight--really, he was going to need to break her out of her very reclusive nature sooner than later.

He raised a caramel hand and palmed his cheek, regarding her with a side-long glance. "A party wouldn't be that big of a deal as long as it was a small, intimate affair."

"If I knew, it wouldn't be all that hard Nokosi. But I just can't make up my mind. I want it all. I really LOVE the cuddly and fluffy doggies, specially the ferrets. But I have a fond spot for nice colored fishies! They make such nice pets to look at and relax!"

"Then just get both," he plainly said as if it wasn't a decision at all. "Get a ferret and a goldfish. Just make sure that the ferrets won't have a reason to eat the goldfish."

"You think I should?" She asked looking between the two, her eyes not knowing on which to focus, they both seemed so cool!

"Yes! Why not? You can care for them both, can you not? I'll help you, actually. Since I can't have any pets, it'd be a pretty good thing for me, I think."

He poked a finger through the cage and let the ferret tug on it. "Besides, it's adorable."

They were adorable.... but the one thing Ronnae was very bad at?

"Okay! I like that idea soooooo.... I'll take that cute white ferret and the black one that's always playing with her! And ummm I want an aquarium with this fishy, and this one, and this one, Oh! And a couple of these cute ones! And a starfish, and that pretty fish with the colors!"

Compulsive buyer....

"Ronnae?" He questioned, giving her a sidelong glance. "You want two ferrets and a gaggle of fish and other aquatic life? Do you know how playful ferrets are and how much attention they need? You'd be best off with one," he said, ruffling her crinkled curls.

"And you have to make sure the fish are compatible or they will eat each other," he explained, pointing to the small labels on each tank against the wall. "Remember that you will need to buy a tank big enough to keep them all in and plenty of food plus collars, medicine..."

"I... I can handle it... B-but... maybe I should start off with one of the ferrets and a few fishies.... C-can.... Can you pick the ferret for me?... I don't... I don't want to be the one to split them up."

For whatever reason that he couldn't quite place a finger on, her words gripped at something in his mind.

Nokosi turned dark grey eyes to Ronnae and stared at her for a long time, gaze unwavering.

She couldn't bear the thought, could she? He could understand why not--if he had siblings he'd never have wanted to be separated from them, either. So what to do? Just because they were animals didn't mean they didn't have a tie to each other.

His eyes flicked back to the two ferrets hopping and rolling around each other, seemingly having the most jovial of times.

He didn't want to, either.

"Why don't you just get both, hm? I'll help you take care of them for a bit until I find another place, then I'll take one of them off of your hands. They'd still be able to see each other if one lived with me."

Ronnae looked at him for a moment, but a small smile slowly rose on her face before she gave a cheery nod.

"Mhm! That's a great idea Nokosi! Thanks~!!" she gave a little skip before hugging her friend.

"Yeah, no need for thanks," he said, circling his long arms around her waist. "But you're going to have to help me search for a new place, you know. A nice one, not too far from where you are now."

"Really?" She thinks for a moment before looking up at him curiously.

"Why? I didn't think that area would be to your liking. There's plenty of places nearby it, but it's generally expensive... I don't know why mama and papa decided that should be the place I live when we're struggling as it is."
