morphitudinous: (No pleasant dreams here)

Terror would be an understatement of what he felt then. There were no failsafes in place, and though her body and wings were both more durable than his, it still had the potential to get her hurt. His heart raced in fear as he watched, clinging to the edge of the building with his fists.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the magnificent red wings stopped her fall. He wouldn't entirely relax until she was back with him, but her voice sounded like pure joy. That was a wonder to him.

He slowly stood, reaching out to take her hands when the very happy girl returned. "I...yeah, you did it. That was incredible."

Billy just wasn't sure if he could duplicate the feat. His wings fluttered apprehensively as he looked down at the unwelcoming concrete, a cold feeling growing in his abdomen. The longer he allowed himself to consider the likely possibilities of limbs tearing from the strain, a failure of flight, or some other disaster, the more fearful he became.

"Right. Now. I...uh, I need to try." Not to die, he added under his breath.
