Blind Date Meme

I feel vaguely bad posting this since we've had a few other memes over the last few days but. I wanna spam the hell out of everyone. .___.

In honour of the fact that it's Valentine's tomorrow in my corner of the world, I bring you the Blind Date Meme!

Somehow, someway, your character has agreed to a blind date (or several). Maybe they were coerced into it, maybe they don't actually mind the idea, maybe it's just Stacy messing with everyone's heads again, but they're here now. And at the very least, it shouldn't be boring for them.

♥ Make a comment for your character, you can outline a mini-setting if you want. (Think along the lines of the 'Waking up in bed' meme we had a little while back.)

♥ Other characters comment to that as the other half of the blind date!

♥ SPAM HAPPENS.

My inbox dies horribly PROFIT!*

* 'PROFIT' may not apply if participants' idea of profit is anything other than large amounts of spam. Offer void outside the internets.

Might not be a bad idea at all. Think it'd be appreciated, given how easy it is to lose track of time on Stacy...

[ She has a little trouble figuring out the straps on the vest--it's definitely not a spacesuit--but part of that might be the fact that she's far more concentrated on the waverunner in front of them. ]

Customized it how? Don't fly, does it?
morphitudinous: (Please remove your arm)

No---the only flying vehicle I own is a car. I only added small performance-enhancing tweaks: streamlining the systems, increasing power efficiency, and things of that nature.

[Yes, he's completely serious. He leans over to fix one of her vest straps.]

There! [Grinning, he mounts the vehicle and offers an arm to help her across.] Are you all right?

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
[ Impressed Kaylee is impressed. ] You got a car to fly?

[ She gives him a thank you for fixing the strap, and takes the offered arm to climb aboard. A happier looking mechanic there never was. ]

'M shiny~
morphitudinous: (I'm not certain we can)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-02-14 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yup! It was my RADBUG. I had the ability to teleport anywhere in the world at any time, but I still wanted to build a flying car. It was a childhood dream---and it was useful several times.

[He grins and checks over the systems, preparing for start up when he suddenly coughs with embarrassment upon realizing something.]

Uh...I'm sorry, but I haven't had the opportunity to install rear handlebars yet.

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like you must've done a pretty nice job with her. [ Teleporting even? That'll be something to come up in later conversation. ]

Handlebars? [ What would she need handlebars fo--oh. Right. ] You coulda just passed it off as a smooth move, y'know. [ She giggles, and wraps her arms around his waist. Not bad at all. ]

[It's better that she's behind him, because his cheeks are reddening.]

Hang on, and let me know if you want to change speed!

[With a well-placed kick, he disengages from the dock, then revs up and takes off. They're along the shoreline at first, at a cruising pace.]

So what do you think of the view?

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
[ She has that effect on people.

Kaylee holds on tight, and at first is only watching the machine, how it works, how he controls it, but soon enough she's looking back along the beach itself, or at the waves further out. When she answers him, she speaks a bit breathlessly. ]

Don't think I've ever seen anythin' prettier!
morphitudinous: (Wonder)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-02-14 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
I agree!

[His answer is just as breathless. He swerves a bit to the left, rounding around a corner of the island as the beautiful waves pass by. The only other cliché this ride needed were a few dolphins---

---and just as he thought it, there they inexplicably were, arcing gracefully a few yards away.]

Whoa---look on the left, did you see them?

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-02-14 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
[ Dolphins--there's something she's only seen in the History Books. She gives an excited shout as she spots them, and fights the urge to jump in her seat. ]

Oh, lookit 'em!! They all look like this, then? Back on Earth, too?
morphitudinous: (:D He's not a pet)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-02-14 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, he's just as excited. Luckily he's an experienced driver in conditions of excitement or surprise.]

Generally, yes. We have a variety of species, but the dolphins' shape and appearance are consistent.

[Three seem to do a series of synchronized flips, and he cheers loudly like a kid at a sporting event.] I don't believe it.

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
[ A couple of kids on a waverunner, that's what we've got here. Kaylee herself is completely in awe. ]

They're almost majestic...

[ And at the flips? Kaylee all but falls off the waverunner, she's so focused on them. She rights herself with a laugh. ]
morphitudinous: (Positive)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-02-15 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
I agree. I've never seen them this close before!

[When she slips, he takes a hand from the handlebar and tugs her arm more securely around him.]

Whoa! Maybe we should head back to shore. Are you hungry?

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
You're one up on me, in any case.

[ She's holding on tighter, all on her own, but his added tug is a nice comfort. ]

Hungry? [ You've got her interest now, Billy. ] All depends on what kinda food might beat out this nice ride...
morphitudinous: (Positive)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-02-15 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
How does a picnic sound to you? Any sort of sandwich you'd like, some juices, and strawberry parfaits for dessert?

[Billy drifts closer to the shoreline, scanning the coast for interesting places that might make good picnic spots.]

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
A picnic sounds shiny. [ Especially the strawberry parfait part...

She points to a nice sandy little cove, decently shielded from the wind but still open enough to look at the scenery. ]
Would that suit the purpose?
morphitudinous: (Suave; foolproof disguise)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-02-15 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
Affirmative!

[He steers, carefully parks, then helps her off. But where's the food?

He pulls out a watch and presses a few buttons, resulting in a small basket landing at their feet. Yay, teleportation!]

So...shall we eat?

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ Ooh, flashy date. ]

I think it'd be a wonderful idea~

[ She sits down in the sand, pleased as pie, and waits for him to sit aw well before pulling out the contents of the basket. ]
morphitudinous: (Please remove your arm)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-02-15 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Be my guest!

[He sits, grins, and takes a few tiny pieces.]

I hope this is acceptable. I wasn't given much time to prepare---between receiving the notice and being teleported out here, I had approximately twenty minutes.

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
[ And that is a full on smile, just for Mr. Cranston. ]

It's the nicest time I've had in a long while.

[ Perfectly pleased, she pops a bite of her sandwich into her mouth and gives a happy hum. ]
morphitudinous: (Positive)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-02-15 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad. I'm probably not the person you expected to find here, huh?

[He chews thoughtfully for a little bit.]

But I've really enjoyed this day. Thank you.

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't have anyone in particular in mind, so seein' you here was a pleasant surprise.

[ A pause, before she giggles. ]

Don't think there's anybody who coulda done it better, so I gotta say thanks to you, too, for makin' it such a nice surprise. And full of all sorts of good things, too.
morphitudinous: (Positive)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-02-15 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
[You're making him blush, Kaylee, and this time it's fully visible. Good job!]

I hope I'll have the chance to show you around again. Perhaps next time we can dive under the surface?

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's hard to beat the satisfaction of flattering someone. It really is. She can't seem to swallow fast enough to answer him, though. ]

Really!? We could!?
morphitudinous: (Prodigious)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-02-15 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
Affirmative! An old friend of mine once taught me how to safely take a person diving. We could see the coral reefs if you wanted to.

[He tilts his head, leaning over in concern.]

You're not choking, are you?

[identity profile] voiceofserenity.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Not chokin', no worry.

[ It's all sounding too good to be true. She gives him a suspicious glance, though her eyes are still laughing and excited. ]

Ain't just pullin' my leg, are ya?
