"I protect Takhisis and people that follow her," Kang says simply. "We build empire." Carefully, snout wrinkling slightly in concentration, he pulls some string out from one of the many pieces of destroyed stuffed toy in the pile of fluff and hands it to Kaylee.

Wait. He'd never gotten her name. Names were important, weren't they?

"I am Kang."

"You can't just let everybody stay where they are and not build th'empire?" The toy's looking much better now.

Oh, but he's introducing himself. Kaylee stands up and sticks her hand out to shake, just like her daddy taught her. "'M Kaywinnit."

Kang shakes his head, "They don't follow Takhisis. They should. Takhisis is strong, stronger than their god."

Oh, he's seen some of the humans do this before. Taking her hand in his, he shakes it hard three times, grinning. Sorry, he doesn't quite know his own strength yet.

"But shouldn't everybody have their say? How'd you like it if somebody forced you to believe somethin' different?"

She's tough as nails. Alright, maybe not that tough. She smiles, though it's a bit pained. "Most folks call me Kaylee, though."

"But it's truth," Kang points out, confused. He doesn't catch the pain in Kaylee's expression, and simply sits himself back down, picking up the giraffe and working on it more. "What animal is this, Kaylee? Never seen one with a neck this long."

She looks at the giraffe thoughtfully for a minute. "I think it's a giraffe, 's what it's called. Seen 'em in books."

"Giraffe," Kang repeats. "Is it like a cow? Food?"

"Food?" Still looking the giraffe over. What do people eat? Cow, chicken, some people even eat dog... "Don't think I've ever met a person who's said anythin' 'bout eatin' a giraffe." Not that they have giraffes to make the comparison, really.

Kang stuffs a bit more fluff into the toy and closes up the hole with a loop of tape and some string. "Like deer? Deer is good, too." The giraffe is about as fixed as it can be without actually sewing it back together, and he holds it out to Kaylee, smiling. "Fixed?"

"Never had deer." She checks the giraffe over carefully, and nods her approval. "Fixed."

"No deer?" Kang blinks, looking at Kaylee. He can't imagine someone never having had deer before. It's the best food ever.

"No deer. Lots of beef, though!" Girl loves her steak.

Beef... oh, right. Cow. "Cow good too. So is pig. I like deer and cow most, though."

He looks down at the pile of fluff and fabric, "Can't fix. Too broke." He doesn't sound sad about it, though, just matter-of-fact.

"And lamb." Lamb's good too, on occasion.

She shrugs at the extra stuffing. "Make somethin' new out of it?"

"Lamb!" Kang knew he'd forgotten something. They were given lamb on occasion.

"...make something? Make what?" He's never made anything before.

"Dunno." She looks at it thoughtfully, then gets up to get a bag from the corner. "Make a pillow!" And to illustrate, she starts putting the stuffing in the bag. "Now you."

"Pillow?" Kang doesn't know what a pillow is, but he starts helping her put more of the fluff into the bag, wings perked up curiously.

"It's the thing you put your head on while you're sleepin'!" More stuffing, until it's all gone, and then she ties the bag closed. "You try!"

Kang blinks, then takes the pillow from Kaylee and rests his chin on it, laying flat on his stomach. His wings stretch out a bit, one of them bumping up against her leg. "I like pillows. Humans not give us pillows. Maybe not strong enough yet."

"Pillows are good..." But she's looking at his wings as if she hadn't noticed them until now. "Can you fly!?"

Those wings stretch a bit more, and Kang turns his head to fix one eye on her, "No. Only silver ones can." He almost sounds jealous, and his tail lashes once.

"Couldn't you be a silver one?" Silver one what? She doesn't really know, but her attention was on the wings, so she's not like to go into it. She leans closer to look, but doesn't touch--Kaylee knows better than to touch without permission. "What do they feel like?"

"No. I'm bronze," Kang points at one of his scales, as if it should be obvious. "...feel like wings." The one closest to her moves even closer, almost in an invitation for her to touch it. She doesn't have any, she can touch and see if she wants.

"Bronze is prettier," she assures him, even though she's never seen the silver ones. Bronze looks more like an engine than silver ever could, she thinks. Kaylee does reach out to touch one of the wings, since it's okay with him. "Could you glide, at least?"

Kang laughs, holding his wing still for Kaylee, though it twitches once when she touches a ticklish spot, "Pretty? Different from other humans, Kaylee."

He sits up abruptly, grinning. "Can glide! Watch." A quick look around shows a tall slide nearby, and he climbs up to the top and jumps off, extending his wings and gliding down to land next to her. "See?"
