The Lantern Corps Meme

I know how much you all love my pointless introduction blather, but because I am so (sprocking) tired,  I am just going to dispense with the deats and get moving so that you can too. Srsly.

Which Lantern are you?!

Rules:
1. Thoughtfully look upon the characteristics and mannerisms of your character/s, then decide whether they are a Green, Blue, Indigo, Red, Orange, Yellow, or Black Lantern. Star Sapphires count.
2. Post your result by inserting one of the Lantern icons below into your comment with a reason as to why they are that Lantern.
3. Others comment on the first comment with suggestions, comments, hints...whatev.
*4.* Extra Credit. Name a shy character who isn't doing the meme and name his/her ring.

Dead bot is dead.

But I'm also thinking it might be a good idea to give a brief rundown on what the Lanterns are like? I know jack all about them beyond 'there are a lot of Green Lanterns. Jamie's Scarab doesn't like them. John in the animated JL series was awesome.'

Seconding this! Even though my character isn't even podpopped yet. Uh.

Kazami... It depends on when you take him. When he first became V3, it was all about his furious revenge against Destron for killing his family and destroying his life. After a few years, though, he calmed down. His main aspect, when you remove his rage, is his utterly fucking ridiculous willpower. We're talking about a guy who stays standing after being impaled, uses his own sweat to break out of an electrical torture device, and undergoes brain surgery while standing up.

You can go on forever about how Apollo wants to build a finer world, how he wants to help people and make a better place. But you have to realize, the man terrifies people. He's possibly the only one on the planet who could take Mr. Majestic, another Superman analogue with more powers than the original, in a straight fight and stand a chance of winning. And the populace knows it. They also know that he's killed God, taken over America, toppled dictatorships, and rerouted volcanoes. Even if he doesn't scare the general populace all of the time, world governments are terrified of him.

Apollo definitely belongs in the Sinestro Corps.

This should surprise no one. Jason's whole deal is that he's pissed off at someone, or something, or everything. He's always angry and though here on Stacy he's learning to channel that rage, it's still there. Waiting to explode.

Image
And well.. if you want to get into this.. Jason is technically suppose to be dead. Why the Black Rings never went to him is anyone's guess.

[identity profile] smartnass.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Nekron was afraid he'd take over.

Going to throw little Billy into this corps because Compassion doesn't really suit him.. well it does. But the way I see him he's got more hope than anything. How else can he still look up to Tony Stark even after everything the man did to his world? B|

[identity profile] notaheroanymore.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Cissie is a bit difficult. Mostly because she doesn't seem to fit ANYWHERE B|

The girl has zero to no fear (screaming in the JLA's face.. wat), she doesn't seem to really hope all that much, her compassion is limited to her close friends, she ain't dead, she's not greedy...

Oh hell, just throw her here B|

Unrequited love for the win? This would be all Bart's fault too.

I think Carol could fit into ALL of these... So I'll just throw her:

And I swear this is my last character, and I will stop spamming...

Image

He's an X-Man, he never stops fighting... even though he thinks they're all doomed to die... he's still going. So it was either this, which I find funny for some reason, or throwing him into the Blue Lanterns... and Iceman Blue Lantern? Nah...

[identity profile] beyondgotham.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Heeey, I was planning on posting something like this eventually. You beat me to it!

Okay, for Terry, I have no idea. Red would fit him well during the first season of the show, when he was motivated mostly by anger over his father's death. But he sort of grew out of that, so... I don't know what would fit him post-RotJ.

Suggestions?

[identity profile] agyieus.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
...Well, you could make arguments for either green or yellow. I don't think that he actually pulls as much fear as Bruce did in his heyday, but he was still just starting off in the show.

But the ability to face some of what he has, including a rogue Superman, without breaking down definitely shows that he's capable of overcoming fear. So, my vote is green.

I know that there aren't many men in the Star Sapphires, but I think that love really is the strongest emotion Rei feels. In his backstory, he almost screws over the entire timestream to save the life of someone he loved. (He was successful, but caused some serious damage that had lasting effects on his world.) It's easy for him to let his love for others control him.

That, and purple is totally his color. X3

Pretty much all Negima cast (as it is heavily shounen) could be considered testaments to willpower. Yue's drive to become a Mage, to be like Negi, even when all things should suggest she quit. Well, it means the most obvious choice for any of them would be:

Image

However, due to the character development after Yue's memory loss, the emotion that has been showing to be strongest, the connection her memories were rebuilding from. Her connection to a boy teacher, is love. Meaning that this also would work:

Indigo/Compassion! That or a Green/Will ring.

[identity profile] foreseen-future.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I think Lyle would fit in with the Compassion side more. He seems more like the type relate to people than barge right in on danger. He's more...thoughtful.

Yeah, I know. I could probably argue for Green too, because he does stay up at all hours of the night trying to solve problems, but I think Jason is more suited for Green than he is.

I picked Indigo because I like matching Ranger uniform colors the skimpy uniforms amuse me he tries to be kind and understanding to everyone he meets, especially if they're considered 'different'. Hello, xenophilia.

He's not the most outgoing of the group, but if someone needs help he'll give it if he can. He knows what it's like to be the outcast, and seems to have a higher capacity for forgiveness than most people. (Seriously. A kid crossed some wires after Billy specifically told him not to, nearly got Billy erased from existence, and Billy didn't even get angry when the punk confessed.)

If Vivio was raised by anyone OTHER than Nanoha and Fate, she might have turned out so different. But, tempered by Fate's coddling and Nanoha's firm hand, Vivio's the little girl full of love and hope.

Prior to Shadow the Hedgehog, good ol' Shadow would have been one of these, filled with rage over the death of Maria and wanting revenge over the entire human race. Now, he'd be one of these...

I got it. Green's Willpower/Courage/all that bravery stuff. Yellow's Fear. Orange is Avarice/Greed. Red is Rage. Purple is Love. Indigo is Compassion. Blue is Hope and Black means you're/you've been dead.

Not a Violet ring, I know. While I think Nura would be one kick-butt Star Sapphire of the Violet Ring (and her love for her husband knows no bounds), Nura is better for a Blue Lantern ring than anything else. Because, despite the fact that her entire race is towards predestination, Nura has such hope that things aren't always infallible.

She knows that things aren't infallible, actually, but it is hope that is so strange and new to her (she was for predestination in the past) that she takes to heart.

A precog who hopes on the unpredictable. Go figure.

Nanoha is, without a doubt, Hope. She believes in people, she always tries to find the best in someone, and she's never given up before. She genuinely believes it will all turn out okay and tries to inspire that same hope (and confidence) in everyone else.

[identity profile] foreseen-future.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
And this is why Nanoha deserves a cookie. Because she could be the ship's Mommy!

Bart's an optimist. He always thinks things will turn out okay. That might be because he doesn't have a solid grip on reality, but it still counts.

His Will Save is +14. :|

It's pretty much the sheer force of his will that is holding the nation of Teyr together. He is going to make it work, if it's the last thing he ever does.

[identity profile] so-pregnable.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Technically:

Image

But he hasn't hit that point yet, so then it comes down to two options:

Image or Image

Dude faced down Superboy-Prime and saved the world. More than that, he faced his own fears of being evil and not-good-enough and got back on the horse and did what he had to do. Even more than that, recently in the comics, he was the ONLY person that got saddled with a black ring that got rid of it through ingenuity and sheer force of will. Even Diana needed the help of a violet ring.

And supers are all about hope. No matter how bad it gets, they try to inspire it and they try to believe it. Kon's a fighter, and part of being a fighter is being an idealist even when the going gets rough and even when he's being a snarky pragmatist sometimes. Can't keep a good clone down.

He thinks he's gonna be Superman someday. As corny as all the stuff Kal spouts about hope and justice and the good in people is, Kon believes.

So one or the other. Will or hope. That's what the supers are all about.

[identity profile] foreseen-future.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
...I think I just cried because of how powerful that speech is. I think everyone needs a Kon on their team.

Do us all a favor, Saphie, and go take over DC Comics.

[identity profile] el-escarabajo.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
It took some thinking about Jaime. He can be willful, he can be hopeful, sometimes he even feels RAGE. He can be a lot of things, but most of all, Jaime Reyes is ruled by one thing, that his parents taught him, that he's taught the Scarab, that guides nearly every action.

Image

Compassion.

[identity profile] foreseen-future.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Adorable. Jaime is such a great character because he isn't all gun-ho for the hero bizz, he's just...himself. Sucks that DC kiddy-cornered him to the Booster Gold comic where it is only a few pages long.

And is now over.
