It's Monday night, why not?

Fun for awkwardness and/or kinkiness....

Here post somebody in, and the person who tags them? Congratulations, you're now handcuffed together. No keyholes and there's power dampeners to prevent those of you with magic/super strength to break them easily. How they come off? That's up to you, and your new partner to figure out!

[ Not even phased by that look, Jamie, but she'll pretend to give it some consideration. ] N'aw, suppose I'd've rather been cuffed to Kang...

Kang? He... [He was going to go for an indignant 'Hey!', but realizes abruptly what Kaylee's trying to do and pulls a face before feigning nonchalance.]

He could probably just break the chain, aye. I'm afraid I can't do that. Guess that means ye might as well get comfortable, Kaylee.

[Big fake yawn time, complete with covering his mouth with his free hand.] If I'm so useless, I guess I might as well take a nap...

[ She raises an eyebrow, and tries to hide the grin. She knows she got you, Jamie, no use in hiding it. ]

Yeah, might as well. Wouldn't want ya helpin' or nothin'. Who knows, might just be somethin' we'll have to wait out, seein' as there ain't a keyhole in the gorram things...

[ And she promptly sits down. ]

[Yes, he noticed that as well - which may very well be part of why he's settling down himself and leaning back against the wall, using his free arm as a pillow. He is pretending to look oh-so-surprised at your comment, though. Gotten or no, he's going to enjoy himself a little bit before figuring a way out of this.]

Oh? There's not? Aye, well, that's too bad. Might have been able to pop open the lock with a wee bit of luck.

Say, Kaylee...I wonder if maybe we need to do something else to get out of this?

[ Kaylee glances at him out of the corner of her eye, settling down against the wall in as much of a contented-seeming manner as she can manage. Her free hand, however, continues roaming over the cuffs. ]

Nope. Not much in the way of seams, either. Somebody did a pretty good job of puttin' these together without leavin' a way out.

Some kinda trigger, you mean? Got any ideas, then?

Aye, well...could be we have to show some sort of affection or something. Like with the mistletoe.

[About as subtle as a Mack Truck, is our Mr. McCrimmon.]

Could be. [ And she leans over to plant a kiss on his temple. Not even a shudder from the cuffs. ]

Alright, somethin' else, maybe. Key word, maybe, or some other kinda action...

[Oh, he's smug...for about three seconds, until he realizes it didn't work.] Och.

[He sits back up, opting to drop the nap pretense. Everyone knows he was shamming anyway.] Aye. Well, what sort of key word do ye think, then?

I dunno. Somethin' simple we might not normally think up? Ain't so great when it comes to the mind games. [ And she flips her arm over his to check the other side of the handcuffs. Commence Poking Things With Screwdriver Mode. ]

[He doesn't mind so much when he's being laughed at when it's Kaylee - even if he pretends otherwise - and there's a little bit of surprise when it doesn't happen.]

Why would ye say that? I think you're good at figuring things out. [Better than Jamie, sometimes.]

Aye, well, if it's simple... Open up, cuffs. [And...nothing.]

[ Now she does laugh. ] Good at figurin' things out when it comes to engines, sure. Still got plenty else I ain't so good at figurin', men and puzzles among 'em.

[ Of course they wouldn't open just like that. Too easy. Kaylee stares at the cuffs a moment, then tries jumping.

Still nothing. ]

Och. [Despite that, Jamie is privately pleased that he got a laugh out of her - it does help when they're stuck together, after all. Still doesn't solve the situation, though. What to try next?]

Hmmm.

[For a second, it seems almost as if there's the tiniest hint of response from the cuffs. Maybe he's imagining things, though.]

Hey, did ye feel that?

[ Kaylee definitely felt that. She starts looking over Jamie, trying to figure out exactly what he did and how he's standing. It doesn't help that she starts trying to mimic his exact stance. ]

Alright, I give up, what'd you do...

[Jamie's mouth twitches for a moment as he watches, trying to keep a straight face. Luckily, his hand was already on his chin, so that's easy enough to do.]

I didn't do anything, other than bring my hand up.

[He drops it, then brings it up again.]

Hmm, no, that's not it...

[And there's that response from the cuffs again.]

[ And again, she tries mimicking the motions, and still nothing. Have a very flat look, Jamie. ]

Alright, Mr. McCrimmon, what're you doin' that I'm not.

[He gives her a somewhat helpless look in return.]

I don't know! You're doing what I'm doing.

[Just to prove the point, he mimics the same motions he did before, and the cuffs are still.]

Och, it can't be that. Maybe it was something I said?

Alright, point made.

[ She frowns at the cuffs now. ]

You didn't say anythin' the same the second time, did ya?

[ No use in getting frustrated, right? None at all. Nope, none. And that's totally not a frustrated hum that came from Kaylee. And those cuffs definitely didn't shake. ]

...think they're just screwin' with us?

[He's not frowning - he's too busy scratching the side of his head trying to think.]

No, I...

[Suddenly, his attention snaps to the cuffs.]

Do that again.

Do what? [ She hum agains, slightly less frustrated this time, and the cuffs give a little shudder. ]

That simple, huh?

Aye, maybe. [He tries to hum again after she's done, but while there's that wee bit of a shudder, the cuffs still don't open.]

Maybe not. It did move, though. [Think, Jamie, think.]

Hey, I have an idea! If we both try to hum together, maybe that'll work...

[uncertainly] What do ye think?

[ If you can get her to stop giggling, that is. ] Bit silly they want a duet, don't you think?

[ Right, deep breath and countdown... ] Three, two, one. [ HUM!! ]

Aye, well...

[Whatever it was he was going to say is cut short as the countdown starts. He starts to hum as well, although it takes a second for him to sync with her. Once he does, though, the cuffs quickly snap open.

Jamie pulls his wrist out, grabbing the chain just below the cuff with his other hand to steady it.]

Kaylee, are ye out?

[ Kaylee proudly holds up her free wrist. ]

Sure looks that way. Just in time, too. I was startin' to wonder if I'd have to stay attached to ya all day. [ Teasing, of course. ]

Think you get credit for figurin' that one out, Mr. McCrimmon.

[dryly] Oh, aye. A fate worse than death.

[Abruptly shifting his grip on the chain, he flings the cuffs away from them before they get any ideas about snapping shut again. He does it in such a way that when they do, they'll lock in on each other and become nothing more than a useless knot of metal. Jamie looks at them in satisfaction.]

There. That should do it. Sorry, what did ye say about credit?

For you, maybe. Might cramp your style a bit, bein' stuck next to the grease monkey forever. [ And teasing complete.

It's a very impressive throw, and Kaylee nods in approval. ]
