Katara is bringing out a plate of food for Matt. Te two of them have a passion for each other that was there even when they were apart. Katara could see how Matt's music affected people, how it had the ability to bring out the best in them. For that reason, even when they're apart, Katara can manage, and doesn't doubt him. When at home, they have a tendency to bounce lyric ideas off each other, and laugh about it later.

"Just a little," replied Matt as he looked up at his wife. It had been a bumpy ride but the pair had finally gotten together and were happy. "I was looking at the lyrics of a song, a follow up to one of my old hits."

"Ah" she said, giving him a sweet smile. "Well, I hope you like what I made! Have I heard the one you're looking at, or was it before we met?"

Now you have her attention: your wife happens to be your biggest fan: in a mature way.

"I always love what you make," replied Matt honestly as he picked up one of the small finger foods and took a bite. "Good!"

"And yeah, it was back during the older days. The one that I called Lack of Dark Wings. I'm thinking of calling this one Wild Wings."

She blushed a little here, but smiled and took a piece of the shortcake and fed it to Matt. "I'm glad you like. I'm not used to making this kind of stuff, you don't really get to make pastries in a place where all that grows are aquatic creatures. I'm glad it turned out ok!"

"Really?" Katara leaned forward. "What;s it sound like?"

Matt ate the piece of shortcake and swallowed with a grin. "Your cooking is always enjoyable, be it simple or fancy."

"So far, it's a soft sonnet before a long chorus with backup singers. It's sort of operatic and acoustic."

She smiled. "I can't help but try to get better at it. Martial arts is great, but cooking is kind of a hobby of mine."

She gazed at the lyrics. "Sounds pretty. I can't wait to hear it."

"It's a good hobby, and we can't be eating out all the time either." agreed Matt.

"It will be. Bell chimes, acoustic guitar."

"Of course you can, if you want," Katara said, sitting cross legged for the moment. It had been unexpected for both of them: Alex had always seemed to be on the cautious side, Katara always defending him. One day on the ship though, a particularly heavy loss of one of Katara's closest friends had made her a victim of being swallowed up by her own grief. It was one of the few times Alex could help her and paid dearly. Katara had stayed in the infirmary to make sure he got better, and during that time...they became very close.

She smiled, rubbing his back. "You okay Alex? You haven't stuttered in awhile."

Alex laughed, but it wasn't his old nervous one, it was an honest one, of him just laughing at himself, "You know I still have trouble with my 'k' sounds." Alex went over to Katara and wrapped his arms around her shoulders from behind, "So, what doya want tonight?"

She shook her head, but she DID know. "I'm kinda in the mood for a movie actually. I remember trying to watching one over at the Outsiders, but then I fell asleep. I think it might be nice, don't you?"

Alex lit up. "Oh! How about that movie I was talking about? With the dancing fridge? Paprika! It's hilarious and adorable," he snuggled into her closer, "like you." He managed to have the confidence now to say that, but that didn't keep him from going red because he said it.

Katara shook her head but beamed. She certainly knew what a fridge was but a dancing one? That would be new. Still, who could say no to a blushing Alex. She grinned and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"Paprika it is!"

The dancing fridge had been new for Alex too. Granted, it was a rather small part of the movie, and had nothing to do with the plot, but it was still quite possibly his favourite part.

Alex went redder at the kiss. They still startled him sometimes, but for the most part they just sent a feeling of warmth through his body. "And what should I make for dinner?"

Katara was more than fine with a movie that had a random dancing refrigerator in it. She had after all, seen Beauty and the Beast several times by now, and to no one's surprise, Katara had identified with Belle immediately.

"Whatever you want honey, although you know I'm never going to turn down fish," she said, taking his hands in hers, smiling down at him. "I'm just grateful I don't always have to cook! What did you have in mind?"

Alex looked off to the side and thought for a moment, "hm, I think we have the supplies ta make my c-coconut fish fillet." He rested his head against hers, "How does that sound?"

[Yes, it happened. She grew up, she filled out, and one day he noticed. And what started out as harmless (if shameless) flirting eventually became something more.]

[It was shameless at first: Katara had paid attention to the string of broken hearts left by Julian, so she was cautious at first about being approached as a "target." Gradually, through their friendships and dating, Julian finally decided he wanted to only be with Katara, and that had been all she needed. Within a year the two are married despite Sokka openly threatening Julian with bodily harm if he ever did his sister wrong. Despite this, the two are starting to get along, and she and Julian are regularly testing each others mettle by testing out tactics and maneuvers for each others teams on themselves, the result of which usually left them breathless and excited and...usually led off to other activities that left them the same way but a lot happier.

Today an older, more lithe Katara is bending the water by the pool in The Outsiders headquarters, waiting for Julian with contained anticipation.

There was an elegance to her movements, a gracefulness that his telekinesis could never quite match. He never liked interrupting her, and waited until she took a break before making his presence known, knocking on the door.]

[Katara knew who it was before he entered. She'd been expecting him of course, and though she hadn't known he was there watching her, she figured he would be there soon. She was still a little blown over by how the two of them had ended up together, but Katara had always been the one in Julian's corner, knowing he would find someone that would anchor him a little. She just never imagined he would have waited for her.]

And her greeting is instant: she walked over and planted a big kiss on him, grinning. "And here I thought you were going to be late."

"You really like laying it on thick Julian," Katara said dryly, but the creeping blush made her true feelings clear. That was another thing that Katara liked about the two of them: they'd been friends so long that Katara knew the difference between Julian's flattery and his true feelings.

"So we both have time Julian: what do you want to do today?"
