DRUNK MEME

The premise is really very simple: The characters posted here are getting drunk at this on-planet marketplace. If your character would normally do so, you need no further instruction. Have fun!

If your character's a teetotaler, though, no worries. All the foods and beverages here at this strange marketplace of wonders are so imperceptibly alcohol-laced that no one will have a clue until it's too late. :3 By then, the fun's already beginning and there is NO ESCAPE. You are all DOOMED to suffer. Or puke. Or be really really super, if you're the type to process alcohol amazingly well.

Eat, drink, and have a party! There's plenty of partying with the locals over here for your characters to join in on. You have the vendors' corridor and a field outside it to roam around in, and for some reason the outdoor field is stocked with enormous gliding kites. This recipe sounds pretty disasteriffic to me.

Katara did have to bowl over here giggling. She was feeling pretty silly herself, although she definitely knew what he was talking about.

"If you say so, Overlord Zetta. Zetta, Zeh-tah. Hehe. That's funny!"

Now she's turning a little red. Maybe she DID have one too many samples...

"Hey! My name's not funny! It's -- awesome! Because it's mine!" Zetta, similarly, would be having a lot more weight behind his protests if he weren't snickering at Katara's loopy giggling.

"But it sounds like a vegetable!" Katara said, laughing aloud. "Zetta! Don't you think so? Why do you think I have to call you Overlord? Zetta just sounds...weird!"

"Well what the hell is 'Katara' then?" Zetta returned with all the maturity of a five-year-old. "Cat aura? Or maybe it's the verb that means 'to put tar on asphalt'! KaTAHuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhh. Cat aura! At least I have a cool title."

This would be almost mean of Zetta if he wasn't laughing through it all too. At least the strongest being in existence is a happy drunk.

Katara stuck out her tongue. "Actually, it means to block. If you look at the way its written, the first part means to block or check, the middle means pagoda and the last mean to pull, like my element with water. And your title would matter more if you weren't a book!"

She said this with almost no malice: it WAS her name, the last thing she had from her nation.

"Hey, use that thing or lose it, babe," Zetta said amiably. "And block a pagoda with pulled water? How the hell does that work? Does, like, a pagoda come flying at you from the sky and you whip up a bigass wave to smack it away? Haaa haa haa...." Zetta trailed off as he realized that was kinda cool. Damn.

"And how many Overlord could still be as awesome as me as a book? Ya think Micky could do it? Noooo. Seedle? King Drake the Third? Naaaaaaaaw. Only me, babe. Only I'm this great."

Katara blatantly ignored the first thing Zetta said, as she knew he was being gross on purpose to bother her. Luckily, alcohol made that a lot easier. "I like it just fine, thank you. What the heck does 'Zetta' mean anyway? It sounds like the name of a car or something."

Guh. Cars. She shivered a moment before continuing.

"I don't know any of those people: you could have just made them up, Mr. self proclaimed awesome book person!"

"Zetttaaaaaaa.... means AWESOME!" He slurred the word a little trying to bellow it. "Because it's me! Before that... it's just a name... perfectly respectable name." It also means ten to the twenty-first power as an SI prefix, which if he knew would just make him consider it more awesome, but he didn't.

"And you ought ta -- ought to KNOW that I don't make stuff up, by now."

And it was probably a good thing that Katara was drunk right now-that much self promotion usually tended not to sit well with the waterbender. Still, she tended to actually like Overlord Zetta despite his overblown introductions: she usually found them a little funny.

"That remains to be seen," she said, giving him a haughty but playful look. "Though that was a pretty sweet dragon you sent at us the other day."

"That? That was nothing!" Zetta might be a blowhard, especially when drunk, but he always figured being the strongest damn being in EXISTENCE was something you could brag about -- especially since he earned the title, he worked hard for it. "You should see the crap I throw at Ruffnut. I'm gonna get some more training going someday.... I got... ideas..." Though he sure couldn't remember them right now!

Here, Katara did get up quickly, then back down again. "Nothing?! That was a dragon! The hide on its own was hard enough, and I had no water there! If it hadn't been for that girl..." She shook her head. Even after hearing Lash talk about being a warlord, NO ONE had given her the willies quite like a little girl who could not only cut into a dragon but not accept healing afterward, covered with blood. What had she DONE in her world?

"Wait, what have you thrown at Ruffnut anyway? I met her at pod pop, she's really energetic! Is she doing ok?"

"Yeah, you guys beat it a lot easier than I had hoped... was 'sposed to be for just the girl." Zetta seems put-out by this; a less drunk Katara might really want to question what exactly she was asking when she told Zetta to make them work hard for a victory. But looking at the cheerful, owlish book, it's hard to imagine he's really that vicious, right?

"Oh, man, all sorts of stuff. That kid fights for hours! Prinnies, demons, corn men, pumpkin men, evil carrots, scientists, Metal Gear LEX... I gotta be real... real careful on the balance there. Don't wanna kill her." The book considered. "Haven't yet."

Katara shook her head. "She's really good, buts he wouldn't have taken it down alone. It needed a distraction. If it can focus on one person, that person has to be really strong and very quick. The girl needed help, and at least now she'll know what she's dealing with. Thanks for helping us with training. If you ever want to do it again, I'll be there."

She took another sip of the beer, giggling. "Sounds fun! We really should have had more people training with you Overlord Zetta. I'm hoping to get them more well rounded-ish."

"Eh, you look like you will pretty soon," Zetta said with his eyes dropping to a spot that made his casual lechery absolutely unmistakable. "I'm gonna do something... more, something big, soon."

Katara blinked, more into the words he said than where he was staring, which would have resulted in her slapping a book anyway, which she was starting to become too uncoordinated to do at the moment.

"Wait, like what?"

"Oh, I had this big.... awesome... combat... " There's a very long pause while Zetta prods his foggy mind to come up with the word he was looking for.

"...thing."

The really sad part is that 'thing' was the word he was looking for to begin with.

Here Katara giggled at Overlord Zetta. "It took you a long time to say thing. I think you're a little too drunk, Mr. Overlord!"

Which wound have sound way more teasing if she hadn't fallen over when she said this.

Zetta just burst into laughter as she teetered over. "Bwaaa ha ha! You're a boozebender from the booze tribe!"

Katara gave him a pointed stare, getting up on her feet slowly. "And you;re still Overlord of cars, good for you!"

"Badass freakin' Overlord of cars!" Zetta corrected. "Just for that, I'm not gonna give you a hand up!"

"There's no proof of you being that 'bad ass' yet!" Katara shot back. "And I don't need help getting up from a perverted book, thank you!"

She kicked her feet upward and balanced, albeit stumbling a little. "See? Perfectly limber!"

"I kicked Nanaaaaaaashiiiiiii's buuuuuuuutt!" Zetta drawled proudly. "Not that it woulda been a contest if I had my body. Still. Not bad work. Not bad at all. You're gonna hurt yerself."

Katara stuck her tongue out at him again. She was still a little immature when she had to be, especially when she was drunk. "Maybe Nanashi should lean how to better bind books then. You got lucky!"

She didn't really think that of course, but she had to defend her teacher somehow.

"Please. I give Nana...na...nashi.... that didn't sound right..." Zetta paused, then spoke it closer to correctly. "Naaaa naaaaaa sheeeeeeeeee.... all respect for bein' her. She's about on th'level of some of the Overlords I know... Like, she could take Dark Lord Valvv.... vvogga. Uh, Star Overlord. Uh, Micky. She could take him. I'm just... the best."

Here Katara dissolved hard into giggles, enough so that she couldn't exactly stand up. "Ha ha, you can't even say her name! Its Nananananananananashhhhhiiiii!"

She fell over again, giggling. "What kind of name is Mickey for an Overlord? It's worse than Zetta the car Overlord!"
