[ Kaylee doesn't care that he's cranky. Doing nothing isn't going to help make him feel better.

He's definitely got a fever, judging by how quickly her hand pulls back from his forehead. She tries not to look too worried as the thermometer goes in. ]

Ronnae whimpered lightly under the covers, but settled in. Only her eyes and top of her ponytails were visible. Her ears perked up waiting for the story.

"Yeah..." He sniffed again, immediately feeling irritated with himself for how pathetic he sounded, an irritation that he made no effort to hide. "Just feels so stupid to get knocked out by something like this."

[How was he to know that they would abandon him at the first sign of trouble? ...okay, well, he knew they would, hence why he never much cared much about whether or not he upset them. This was just proving him right and justified in his man-whoring ways.]

He lowered the book slightly to look at the sick girl then stood up and walked over to her. As much as he wanted to sympathize with her and the others, he just found it hard to conjure up those feelings and relate to the magnitude of their loss. He embraced her in a good old fashioned hug and smiled.

"Hey, don't be sad. Everyone is going to be really happy that you saved them when we get back."

She looked down, not saying anything for a few moments. "It'll be nice seeing them again..." She said in a small voice. "I miss them..." She coughed a few times. "Th-thanks Kosi... I'm ready for the story." She kept her cover up to her nose.

[It was bound to happen eventually. All that running around, helping others, forgetting to take meals or fretting over Steve would eventually catch up with her, and now Miku has collapsed on her bed in a pile of sheets.

Except, she promised she'd do a million more things before lights out tonight, and is going to drag herself out of bed to do it... right after this hacking cough passes.]

Kon wasn't used to being sick. This was why he was wrapped up in a blanket, hair mussed, trudging into the Obs Deck, trying to find someone to notice his plight. Arguably, Medbay would've been a better choice, what with the doctors and all, but he had a fever, so he wasn't exactly thinking straight. He collapsed dramatically on a meat-couch, sniffling and coughing.

"Seriously, I'm not just being a wuss like everyone else who's sick, I'm gonna diiiie."

His face mushed against the couch, he called out:

"It's Choleric Ebola Pox! Bubonic clone plague! I'm gonna melt! Oh what a world, what a world!"

"Nobody likes it, trust me," Katara said. "It's even worse when you have tons f work to do and training to catch up on. Something like this actually happened to a couple I know on the ship too: one was taking on a lot of work for the greater good, the other knew that doing that too much would be too taxing. In the end, you have to do what's right for your body, so that you're able to help people another day."

[Well, how would you feel if you were trying to rest and were rudely dragged out to have some thermometer-thing shoved at you?]

Just don't feel much like eating right now.

[Not nauseous, it seems. Jamie realizes, though, it's probably better to not push Kaylee too far at the moment, and he reluctantly puts the thermometer back in his mouth.]

[Worst reasoning ever, and Katara is happy to know nothing about it. Besides, in that case, held better rely on his non-man-whored female friends.]

"The head part is easy: there's a variety of ways to help ease a headache. I think I'll try a deep massage for you, pressure points are something I actually learned in my world. For the stomach, we have a variety of cures we can try, but herbs might be our best bet. I think I have some ginger that would be perfect for that."

Katara grabs the sides of the basin and heaves in, unaware of how this even came to be and keeps her head bowed low after she's done. Being sick was one thing, but this was pretty mortifying.

"Why aren't you in bed? Or medical?" Hello, Kon, your Hawaiian Voice of Reason has found you. Tana furrowed her brow and pursed her lips at Kon in concern.

She put her cool hand against his forehead, and kept frowning, "You're burning up, huh?"

"Here was closer. My legs are all doing a weird shaky thing. I need someone to fireman carry me down to Medical."

[ She smiles a little--good man, Jamie, putting that thermometer back--and slides him a tylenol and glass of water for when he's ready. ]

She eyed him up and down, made a few mental calculations, and replied, "Well, I can't carry you, but you can lean on me and we can walk to medical. I don't think Stacy wants you moaning into her couch." She smoothed a hand over his head. "What do you say?"

"Actually, I don't really want to go to Medical. I was just banking on the fact you can't carry me. If I go to Medbay, there's probably gonna be neeedles," he whined.

"Mn, I guess." Jamie could see the sense in that, but it still grated to be stuck here. "'f we set down someplace and the Ohm start attacking, though, I'm not gonna just lie here."

He sighed. "Besides, I feel like I'm gonna go nuts lying around not doing anything."

Kaylee has had plenty of practice in holding back hair with River's little episodes. She rubs Katara's back, as comfortingly as she can with her free hand, and takes the basin after she's finished.
