A Visit from the Magical Snow Fairy

This comm has been quiet for TOO LONG.

The ship is now full of snow. Seriously. It's in the hallways. It's in your bedroom. It's all over the mess hall, the sensoriums, and of course the city. How did it get here? WHO KNOWS! It's just everywhere snow should be and then a whole lot more.

NOW DEAL WITH IT!

(Meme is, as usual, open to literally anybody. Ever.)

More of this? Goliath looked around for the source of the attack.

When he spotted Elisa and her snow cache, he opened a wing, held it out for a dramatic moment - then beat down sharply, blowing a small torrent of snow in her direction.

[That wasn't fair. The sudden wave of snow almost knocked her off her feet and, although she managed to keep upright, she lost many of her snowballs in the process. She threw the remains of her ammunition, then ducked out of sight to build up a fresh supply.]

He hadn't hurt her, had he? In terms of everyday interactions, Goliath knew his own strength well enough not to hurt anyone smaller or more fragile than he was. Snow fights, however, were not something he'd done often enough to know where to limit himself.

Concerned, he approached the building behind which Elisa had ducked out of sight, forgetting to take a defensive stance.

[She was perfectly fine and, when Goliath closed in on her, she showed that by launching another barrage of snowballs in his direction, grinning as she ducked behind a wall and out of sight again.]

Relieved, and surprised, Goliath fell back to marshal his resources, brushing snow off his shoulders.

His resources consisted of one giant snowball, which he swooped around the wall to deliver.

[As resources went, the giant snowball probably beat her smaller snowballs. And he was certainly faster than she was. Although Elisa tried to get out of the way, she didn't expect to succeed.]

Maybe we should have tried building a snowman instead.

"I apologize. I'm not in the practice of this. I haven't hurt you, have I?"

He gave her a look of concern, then spread his arms and wings wide, leaving himself wide-open to shots with the snowballs.

"Go ahead." He smiled. "Consider it my penance."

I'm fine. [Which was true, fortunately. She knew that he wouldn't forgive himself if he hurt her, accidentally or otherwise.]

That kind of takes the fun out of it, big guy.

Very true. He still hadn't forgiven himself for knocking her off the dam in his fight with the Hunter. In all likeliness, he never quite would.

"It seems I am more out of practice at this than I thought."

He cloaked himself in his wings again, considering Elisa's earlier suggestion.

"How does one make a 'snow man?'"

[identity profile] newyorkbynight.livejournal.com 2012-01-16 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[She'd forgiven him, which wasn't necessarily the same thing, but she wasn't likely to forget that particular experience any time soon. At least it was over now. At least they'd all survived in the end.]

When did you last have a snowball fight?

It's easy. You just pile up the snow into a body and roll a big snowball for the head.

"Scotland."

But he never liked talking about that. So instead he knelt and began scooping snow into shape by the talonful.

"Like this?"

[identity profile] newyorkbynight.livejournal.com 2012-01-17 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[He didn't want to talk about it and Elisa wouldn't dream of asking questions. There some things that didn't need to be discussed.]

Exactly.

[Elisa knelt down as well, hands over his talons to show him how to sculpt the snowman shape.]
