Blind Date Meme
In honour of the fact that it's Valentine's tomorrow in my corner of the world, I bring you the Blind Date Meme!
Somehow, someway, your character has agreed to a blind date (or several). Maybe they were coerced into it, maybe they don't actually mind the idea, maybe it's just Stacy messing with everyone's heads again, but they're here now. And at the very least, it shouldn't be boring for them.
♥ Make a comment for your character, you can outline a mini-setting if you want. (Think along the lines of the 'Waking up in bed' meme we had a little while back.)
♥ Other characters comment to that as the other half of the blind date!
♥ SPAM HAPPENS.
♥
* 'PROFIT' may not apply if participants' idea of profit is anything other than large amounts of spam. Offer void outside the internets.

Don't look so dejected, hm?
no subject
[Cue quick shirt-smoothing and posture-straightening in an attempt to look professional.]
Hey. What brings you out here?
no subject
A walk down the beach with good company. Nice day for it, don't ya think?
no subject
[Billy's smile is not as bright as Kaylee's, but it's definitely there now. He moves to her side and cocks his head in the direction of the sand trail.]
Shall we?
no subject
[ It's good to see him smile. Kaylee nods, and starts walking down the trail. ]
Weren't waitin' for anyone in-particular, then?
no subject
[Oh, crud. He didn't pick the wrong date, did he? Cue nervous look.]
...You were looking for an arranged meeting, right?
no subject
Well, I was told I might find a nice walkin' partner down this way if I showed up at a certain time. S'pose the word "date" might'a been used in there someplace.
no subject
Then we're both where we belong.
[He continues walking with her, then bends and scoops up a conch shell, holding it out to her]
I've found that the climate isn't conducive to floral gifts.
no subject
Sounds like it.
[ She accepts the shell with a very pleased smile. ]
This is nicer than any flowers, surer than anythin'. It'll last a lot longer, too.
no subject
So, do you come to shorelines often?
no subject
Not really. Only thing I ever seen of oceans has been on Central planets, and not nearly as much of that as I'd like. Most've the inhabitable parts of Border planets are all desert or snow.
no subject
We can also cover some ocean if you're interested. [Yes, that's a coy smile.]
no subject
[ She likes that look as much as she likes the idea. ] I'd like that a lot~
no subject
[He scoops up some sand and runs it through his fingers as he walks, humming with contentment]
My waverunner's waiting at the dock, just past the beachgrass. Come on!
[He picks up the pace a little, grinning wickedly. Any more excitement, and he'd be grabbing her hand and running along.]
no subject
[ She's not sure she knows what a waverunner is, but his excitement is contagious. Her own pace picks up. ]
That like a boat, then?
no subject
[Yay, they're getting there! She can see it now as they approach the dock.]
They both enable transport over water, but they're more similar to motorcycles operating on water if you know what those are. With their engines running, they move faster than boats.
no subject
[ And that. Looks like a whole lot of fun. ]
Like an ATV, then, for the water? She looks like quite the little ride.
no subject
[He picks up a flotation vest and tosses her one, smiling widely.]
Exactly! But you won't see these views from an ATV. I customized this one.
[Of course, the mechanic has to get his hands all over everything. He runs a hand over his ride.]
no subject
[ She has a little trouble figuring out the straps on the vest--it's definitely not a spacesuit--but part of that might be the fact that she's far more concentrated on the waverunner in front of them. ]
Customized it how? Don't fly, does it?
no subject
[Yes, he's completely serious. He leans over to fix one of her vest straps.]
There! [Grinning, he mounts the vehicle and offers an arm to help her across.] Are you all right?
no subject
[ She gives him a thank you for fixing the strap, and takes the offered arm to climb aboard. A happier looking mechanic there never was. ]
'M shiny~
no subject
[He grins and checks over the systems, preparing for start up when he suddenly coughs with embarrassment upon realizing something.]
Uh...I'm sorry, but I haven't had the opportunity to install rear handlebars yet.
no subject
Handlebars? [ What would she need handlebars fo--oh. Right. ] You coulda just passed it off as a smooth move, y'know. [ She giggles, and wraps her arms around his waist. Not bad at all. ]
no subject
Hang on, and let me know if you want to change speed!
[With a well-placed kick, he disengages from the dock, then revs up and takes off. They're along the shoreline at first, at a cruising pace.]
So what do you think of the view?
no subject
Kaylee holds on tight, and at first is only watching the machine, how it works, how he controls it, but soon enough she's looking back along the beach itself, or at the waves further out. When she answers him, she speaks a bit breathlessly. ]
Don't think I've ever seen anythin' prettier!
