She stops fixing the giraffe altogether, and stares at him with her mouth wide open. "You can't kill your brother!! They'd put ya in jail for that!!"

Blink. "Can. Do it every day. Humans want us to. Want us to be strong, to fight in war." Why was she upset? Kaylee was a female, something his brain had finally informed him of. That was why she smelled different.

"No!" Kaylee stands up, and she looks almost close to crying. "People shouldn't fight!! Nobody should fight! What happens to all those folks you kill, who got family and love 'n everythin' back home?"

"Brothers try to kill me. I kill them first. I get food," Kang looks confused. Why doesn't she understand? "Weakness bad, not allowed. Need to be strong. Elves and Solamnics are enemy."

She got her hands on her hips now. Does not computer, Kang. At all. "So would you kill me if you were told to?"

Without missing a beat, Kang nodded, "If you were enemy. Why I was created." He doesn't know why she'd be considered an enemy, but if the other humans say she is...

Maybe because she sides with the elves and Solamnics? He wouldn't enjoy it, but he'd do it, because that makes her enemy, too.

She's thoroughly insulted now, and a little bit scared. "Just cuz somebody told you to? You don't even know me t'all!!"

Yeah, nevermind, she really is crying now.

...what is she doing? Kang is completely baffled. "Won't kill you unless you're enemy. Side with elves and Solamnics. Do you?"

Her fists are balled up against her eyes now. "I d-don't even know what th-those are!"

"Elves have pointy ears. Solamnics wear armor. Both follow weak god Paladine," Kang's wings rustled as he watched her, still baffled.

Kaylee shakes her head, but the crying doesn't stop, and her hands don't come down. "L-like in s-story books?"

Kang's head tilts to one side slightly. "Story books?"

A miserable nod. "Like the ones who work in Santa's workshop."

"Who is Santa? Is Santa another god?" Curious draconian is curious.

"N-no..." She doesn't think he is, anyways. "He brings p-presents to all the k-kids..."

Kang starts trying to finish fixing the giraffe. Maybe that will make her stop being sad? "Why?"

Kaylee peeks out from behind her hands. "Because the k-kids were g-good all year, so h-he brought them p-presents for it."

"Santa gives me presents if I'm good, then? Like when humans give me more food for being strong?" Huh. This sticky stuff doesn't seem to want to work. Kang plops himself down on the ground and looks more closely at the fabric, trying to figure out how to make it work.

"O-only when you're n-nice to people." She scoots forward a bit. "No, like this," she says, and wraps another loop of tape around the giraffe's neck.

Oh, it's working! She's not crying as much anymore! "Humans say it's good when I'm strong, though." Kang watches, the tip of his tail twitching, and a realization hits him. "Sticky cloth won't stay. It needs string."

"Strong's okay," she replies, more concentrated on the poor stuffed animal now, "but not to hurt people. To protect 'em, maybe, or help 'em build stuff..."

She holds her hand out for string. That was how her daddy always got tools, right? Just held out his hand.

"I protect Takhisis and people that follow her," Kang says simply. "We build empire." Carefully, snout wrinkling slightly in concentration, he pulls some string out from one of the many pieces of destroyed stuffed toy in the pile of fluff and hands it to Kaylee.

Wait. He'd never gotten her name. Names were important, weren't they?

"I am Kang."

"You can't just let everybody stay where they are and not build th'empire?" The toy's looking much better now.

Oh, but he's introducing himself. Kaylee stands up and sticks her hand out to shake, just like her daddy taught her. "'M Kaywinnit."

Kang shakes his head, "They don't follow Takhisis. They should. Takhisis is strong, stronger than their god."

Oh, he's seen some of the humans do this before. Taking her hand in his, he shakes it hard three times, grinning. Sorry, he doesn't quite know his own strength yet.

"But shouldn't everybody have their say? How'd you like it if somebody forced you to believe somethin' different?"

She's tough as nails. Alright, maybe not that tough. She smiles, though it's a bit pained. "Most folks call me Kaylee, though."
