Mindscape Meme

HEY GUYS WHAT'S THIS? THE MINDSCAPE MEME.

WHAT DOES THE INSIDE OF YOUR CHARACTER'S MIND LOOK LIKE?

I don't mean HOW ROUND ARE THEIR FLOATY BRAINCELLS but. If their mind had to look like a certain place/have certain things/be a certain way/...what would it be like? A giant Egyptian maze like Yami inside Yugi's brain in YuGiOh? A themepark with dead people hanging off the lamp posts and stuff? A room filled with doors and tons of things inside those doored rooms, etc?

And are there people there? Like, other characters that the character has some kind of close relationship to? Pictures of these people? Why would they be there? ETC. Anything you can think of!

Easiest meme ever, since I've already had to shape Billy's mindscape (I call it a soulscape but there's not much difference) and it's been visited in-game.

As you'd probably anticipate, it's blue. Very, very blue. The main area is an oval platform hovering over an ocean. Don't ask me how it hovers, it just does. Engraved on the floor of the platform is the symbol of the NightRunners, his dear friend Renne's clan. A clan that Billy is an honorary member of. Triceratops and unicorn images appear here and there too, based on the symbols from the power coins.

Surrounding the main platform are eight colored lights: two red, two yellow, two black, one greenish-white, and one pink. If you know anything about Billy, you've guessed that each represents one of the Power Rangers. One of the black lights shines brighter than the rest since Adam is awake and present in Billy's life.

Branching out from the central platforms are several others, with floating stepping stones leading to each. On one stands a majestic and fierce unicorn, his 'spirit animal' so to speak. On another swirls a vortex of color, where memories can be extracted and viewed. There are probably more, but I can't think of them right now.

It normally has a pristine appearance, but Billy's battle to wrest control of his body from the Nightmare King took place in here and did significant damage to the area. Billy and Renne (and possibly Adam and Jamie) have done some healing and cleaning up, but a few persistent black marks remain on the floor and in the water.

As far as objects go, they tend to be abstract art pieces with swirling spirals and complex mathematical models rather than definite people and places from his life. Most were broken in the battle against the shadow presence (damn, those shadow tentacles are dangerous) but he's working to fix them or create new ones.

Aine's mind looks like a battlefield long after the battle is done, the damage is there, at least a little. Broken trees, craters in the ground, scorched rock-face. However across the field are monuments, large statues of people. They look like memorials, even if most of them lack little things like death information.

Other than the aspects of a battlefield, it is a very peaceful looking place. There is a note about the monuments, each of the people in it are posed in dramatic, dynamic, action poses. Weapons drawn, clothes torn, that at any point they will be barking orders and attacking hordes of enemies.

But, on its own, off in the corner, is a statue that is very different. It's a serene posed young woman, sitting quietly, her weapons holstered. A closer examination reveals its Aine herself. While the others have long titles, full names, and a detailed history of battles won. Her's simply says "White," without any other information.

There's a main room, with a few other rooms around it.

The main room is essentially a massive computer server room. All the information is stored neatly and efficiently, with no waste. It's optimized for fast processing and retrieval of information. There's very little else in the main room besides the big black servers.

It's the smaller rooms that get really interesting.

In one, a man and a woman reside, in a house on a desert landscape. The images are crystal-clear, but they're just that - images. He is rather formidable-looking, with a serious face, and the same pointed ears that Spock has. Spock looks quite a bit like this man, actually, albeit younger, and somehow...softer. The woman is human, though dressed strangely. Her back is ramrod-straight, her head covered with a scarf, and her smile is big and beautiful. Spock has her eyes.

In another room, is a smattering of art - sculpture, musical instruments, books of poetry, sheet music. Occasionally, if one is lucky, one might spot Lieutenant Uhura in this room. (There are a couple of other rooms she runs around in, too, when she feels like it.)

One room opens onto the bridge of the Enterprise, fully manned and ready for warp. It is bright, shiny and new, and, in a lot of ways, so are the people on it.

Several rooms are empty, when once, they clearly held something of great import.

And there's one room, hidden away. No one could ever get into this room. It's locked far too tightly, with far too many security measures, for that. If one listens closely, one might hear sounds coming from this room. They're visceral, animal sounds. Sounds of violence, anguish, of the fight for survival, perhaps some madness. It is a room which is clearly never meant to be opened.

Throughout most of the rest of the space, one hears only the sound of a distant engine, with occasional whirring beeps and swooshes. The mechanical sounds of a starship.

A shiny, swirling purple vortex.

Which sounds so lame when I put it like that. But it's pretty much how Rei sees the space between time (in his canon, each person sees the timestream differently), so it's really important to him. Overall, the thing is dark purple, but there are shining discs of various shades of purple floating around in the vortex. Each disc is a memory, and there are some discs that are completely white - these are the memories that were erased by the Guardians when he was 19.

Also, it is important to point out that before he was sucked into the rift in time when he was 14, it didn't look this way. His mind looked more like an impressionist painting of Rio, but with various nerdy stuff running around in it. Like spaceships and... centaurs... and... stuff. After he officially became a Guardian, that was all obliterated and replaced with the vortex.

Kala's mind is, on the surface, icy. It's cool and crisp like a snowcone on a hot day. Beneath a very thick casing of ice are lights, swirling maelstroms of lights that are mostly gold, white and sparks of green and blue.

These lights are locked away and tightly controlled for they're the magic elements that Kala controls (to some success) each and every day. Mostly, there is wind, a steady breeze of it no matter where you turn. If you walk across tht thick surface of the ice, in any given direction, you'll notice that your feet have now hit a jungle's undergrowth that gives way to brightly lit, glowing specimens of plant and animals.

This is Antedis, a living world that possesses just enough sentience to exact its own revenge against trespassers or those who harm it. Kala, through her magic is tied to it in ways she can't even begin to express...or know about. Everyone who leaves Antedis must come back...somehow.

They are compelled.

In the center of that vast jungle is a massive crystal growth--it is black with blue sparkling whorls that glint with flecks of gold and slices of other colors that seem to flow together, cycling over and over and over.

There are no people. There were never any people at all, though if you turn, you might catch movement out of the corner of your eye.

There is a wash of noise, like subspace static, and the hum of a console, the thrum of engines, the whooshing, soothing sound of doors opening and closing, the murmur of voices speaking many languages. This, at first, can seem overwhelming, but it's not. It's soothing.

Everything is in order, categorized, filed, and clean. There isn't a shred of clutter in her mind. She knows exactly where everything is and can find it in less time than you can say "I CAN DO THAT" -- which you can't.

Uhura has her professional side split neatly in half and her personal side is shut away behind a thick bulkhead with a whole mess of security all bent of keeping the fanboys out. Because she does not want. And when she does, you may sit in the waiting room with your magazine and she will get to you.

There are a few warning signs on those magazines, too. just so you don't get the door closing on your arse.

She won't discuss that personal life, either, so...don't even try, flyboy. And you can stop wanking, now. Get out and take your boxers with you. Seriously. That door is calling you. Don't make her throw you out.

Giles' mind is probably a huge library with lots of shelves. And maybe a pic of Buffy somewhere hehe. Maybe Jenny, but I don't know. He still misses her.

Fate's mind is a house. She's a very family-oriented person, so this really isn't too much of a surprise. The whole place gives off a feeling of calmness, and of security.

There are pictures everywhere. In the living room are pictures of most of her family; her mother Lindy, her brother Chrono and his wife Amy, and their two children. On the walls of the hallways are pictures of Teana, Subaru, Erio, and Caro... the four Forwards of Section Six. There are a few more of the latter two, since they were her team and her dear children.

One room is a child's room. There are a few stuffed bunnies on the bed, and more pictures on the walls; this time, of just Fate and Vivio. These don't have varying ages, of course, since Vivio is still a fairly new addition to the family.

The room across from that is obviously Nanoha and Fate's. It's simple, with a large bed and neat furniture, and of course, the pictures; they're all hanging on the wall against the bed, and like in the living room, they're from various stages in the two girls' lives. You can almost feel the love surrounding the room, added on to the comforting presence in the rest of the house.

There is, however, one part of this home where those feelings don't reach. The door to the basement is shut and locked tightly, but if you manage to pry it open...

It's dark, save for a slight purplish glow that comes from nowhere, and the whole place reeks of despair. If one listens closely, they may here the cries of a little girl, or the insane laughter of an older woman, or even the crack of a whip.

Nanoha's mind is a grassy/forested meadow by the shore underneath a wide blue sky. The grass and trees seem haphazardly thrown together as if from different forests - and they are. One is the forest where as a girl she first met Yuuno and started it all, and the other is the place where she and Fate first met.

Fate would also recognize the waterfront, with a little bridge and then a straight drop to the water, because it's where the two of them first made a vow and exchanged ribbons. As for the rest of it, the most striking feature is how, despite the trees, the sky seems to stretch on forever all around you.

Reyna's mindscape is a large Regency style manor full of elegantly dressed men and women. All of them are engaged in conversation on a wide range of topics. One group might be discussing the latest political scandal, while another might be discussing next year's fashions, while yet another might be discussing first contact protocols. Many of the conversations are being conducted in other languages, and as you move from room to room you may catch snatches of Ryl, Bothese, Sullustese, and many others being spoken fluently.

The decor is a refined as the manor, with tasteful sculptures and paintings of landscapes scattered artfully around. There are a few portraits here and there, the largest of which is obviously Reyna as a little girl with her mother, father, and older brother. Another portrait that stands out is one of a an attractive young woman with long blonde hair and pretty blue eyes winking cheekily and blowing a kiss.

In the corner of one of the side rooms is a gaggle of teenage girls, talking in hushed tones about their beaus, their dresses exposing a bit more skin than is proper for well-bred young ladies. They are making the most of their time away from their governesses and are likely mere moments away from a bout of high-spirited mischief.

The stables at the back of manor are something of an anachronism as they house not horses but a vast array of speeders and swoops. Hanging on pegs nearby are several flightsuits obviously tailored for a woman with generous curves. They have clearly been designed with more of an eye towards fashion than function and are rather impractical.

Think Jane Austen meets Star Wars and you're good. :)

Most living beings have or understand the concept of a soul.

Most living beings have the notion of or belief in separating the body from the soul.

Renne does not have this.

To understand his mindscape, one must first understand that Renne is. There is no separation of body and soul -- what you see is very literally what you get. Given his nature and the nature of what "should be" in this Multiverse, he is often the one changing, morphing to survive in new surroundings.
This is the same within what we perceive as his mind.

At a start, Renne's 'scape perpetually swirls and undulates with a few solid consistencies. At the center stands a smallish glen, flanked on one side by a waterfall. This place is always alive and verdant, dominated by a nine-foot-tall black stone. This stone had been carved into the likeness of a man with emeralds set in for his eyes.
The statue stands straight but its hands extend outward as if readying to embrace or hold. Long sleeves and the likeness of a long cloak make for the "clothes".
This is one of the few fixed points.

The second is a strange building; an amalgam of an old seaside tavern and a fortress that may well had been built by an alien kingdom. Nowadays, the tavern is the dominant feature here but it is wise to keep clear of it.
The doors here rarely open and it is from within these walls that many voices echo from.

The final consistency here is rather new; the glowing, young sprouts of what might be a tree at the edge of the glen with the statue. Here, the tendrils reach up and out and shine with a tint of blue. They reach deep into the earth and as time goes on, these tendrils grow, twisting ever larger around one another like a living rope.

All else here remains in constant motion, constant change -- sometimes a carmel-thick ocean roils below with a blood-red sky above. Sometimes, a shadow dances and cavorts at the edges, laughing in a way that only the truly insane can manage. Time and colours and sounds cross the senses to touch and be touched, heard and be heard. Voices echo from distant corners and when things undulate, twisting in directions unforseen, figures flitter by. Shadows of men and women, of creatures nine feet tall. Voices whisper or scream or laugh.
Chaos and serenity mix where there once stood stark, impenetrable walls of stone.

Dean's recent venture to Heaven helped here, thinking of what comes to mind first for him. Also some of his dreams. heheh

There's an area that looks like the old house in Lawrence Kansas. Also an open road with his Impala and endless fields and trees. The full moon was huge, and vast starfield overhead.

There's a section for a nudie bar as well, and an all night diner.

One spot is just a lake with a dock where a person can sit out and fish.
