Actor Meme!

It's Transmigration 9 Studios. No, the name doesn't make any sense, except that the owner, Stacy, has owned eight studios before this and they've all crashed and burned. Which feels so great for the actors and their sense of job security, let me tell you.

As soon as they're done with their scenes, the characters stop playing their roles and make it real. The scripts are tossed aside, and they can relax now that the cameras are off of them.

What does this mean? Well, perhaps Billy is an actual college graduate, who is disgusted with the scientific inaccuracies and techspeak mumbo-jumbo of his character. Perhaps Kang is a fit Japanese man in a rubber dragon suit. Maybe Renne is a former theater actor that speaks with a posh English accent? Who knows, perhaps Nehaa is a conservative Catholic who finds her role as a stripperiffic space goat horrifying! And it might an ongoing joke off-screen that Leon can't fight for shit, Steve's actor stands in for him during action scenes.

Just roll with it, guys, it's better than my first idea of the night.

"I'm all right," Miku's actress assured Billy. "Did you get the new script? They want me to run even slower." She sighed, "My personal trainer is going to have my ass in a sling if I keep slowing down."

She fluffed her hair. "What about you? What got you stuck on server duty?"

"That's been a problem already, right?" 'Billy' shook his head. "Are they being hard on Steve too?"

He flashed her a weary smile. "I argued with the producers over Billy's role. They assured me in excruciating detail that I am easily replaceable. I'll just have to stick it out for another while longer."

Life didn't pay for itself, and this wasn't too bad, he supposed.

"Not so much, our story arc for the season is just about over. I just... couldn't run slow enough. I thought I did pretty well, though, pretending that PVC gun was as heavy as it was supposed to be." Miku grinned. "Anyway, don't beat yourself up over it too much. We're here to do something fun, aren't we? Producers are here to make money, so of course they're going to be grumpy."

'Miku' nibbled her lip for a moment, "Just roll with the punches for a little longer, it'll all work out." Which, incidentally had landed her the role in the first place. The other girls who had been cast had just fallen flat, or landed in trouble. It was easy to shoe herself in after that, wasn't it.

Miku was far more optimistic than he, Billy had to credit her with that much. He set a hand on her shoulder, nodding gratefully.

"It could always be worse, I suppose. We could be in our characters' shoes," he realized, pushing his hair back. "Thanks. Sometimes it's easy to lose perspective."

"Right? I can't imagine being unable to touch someone's pencil and hoping they didn't like, do something terrible with it." Miku shuddered and laughed a bit. "You're welcome. We're in this boat together, aren't we?"

"That's why your character is the object of so much fannish devotion?"

It's really a startling contrast between Mei Xing the person and the character. She's indeed very good at her craft, he thinks.

"I'll sell my next injury with unprecedented passion," he deadpanned.
