Actor Meme!
It's Transmigration 9 Studios. No, the name doesn't make any sense, except that the owner, Stacy, has owned eight studios before this and they've all crashed and burned. Which feels so great for the actors and their sense of job security, let me tell you.
As soon as they're done with their scenes, the characters stop playing their roles and make it real. The scripts are tossed aside, and they can relax now that the cameras are off of them.
What does this mean? Well, perhaps Billy is an actual college graduate, who is disgusted with the scientific inaccuracies and techspeak mumbo-jumbo of his character. Perhaps Kang is a fit Japanese man in a rubber dragon suit. Maybe Renne is a former theater actor that speaks with a posh English accent? Who knows, perhaps Nehaa is a conservative Catholic who finds her role as a stripperiffic space goat horrifying! And it might an ongoing joke off-screen that Leon can't fight for shit, Steve's actor stands in for him during action scenes.
Just roll with it, guys, it's better than my first idea of the night.

She fluffed her hair. "What about you? What got you stuck on server duty?"

He flashed her a weary smile. "I argued with the producers over Billy's role. They assured me in excruciating detail that I am easily replaceable. I'll just have to stick it out for another while longer."
Life didn't pay for itself, and this wasn't too bad, he supposed.

'Miku' nibbled her lip for a moment, "Just roll with the punches for a little longer, it'll all work out." Which, incidentally had landed her the role in the first place. The other girls who had been cast had just fallen flat, or landed in trouble. It was easy to shoe herself in after that, wasn't it.

"It could always be worse, I suppose. We could be in our characters' shoes," he realized, pushing his hair back. "Thanks. Sometimes it's easy to lose perspective."

The woman had been an actor for years, moving from a gritty, cyberpunk setting to this studio. She started off as a bit part on that show, then became an award-winning actor there before a series of bad storylines ended up in the show getting cancelled. So she came here, and brought a surprisingly cheerful and friendly feel to the back stage. "Remember, just keep at it, put your all into it, and the fans will notice. They're the people that really matter, right?"

It's really a startling contrast between Mei Xing the person and the character. She's indeed very good at her craft, he thinks.
"I'll sell my next injury with unprecedented passion," he deadpanned.
