Oh the weather outside is frightful...

☀THE WARM AND TOASTY MEME☀
The situation: It is dreadfully cold. Think 'ice cave where all those slash fics are set'.
The goal: Keep each other warm tonight!

☀ STEP ONE: Comment with your characters. One comment for each character.
☀ STEP TWO: Other people reply to your characters.
☀ STEP THREE: Both participants are aware that they should/must keep nice and warm. To do that, you need to bundle up nice and closely, however grudgingly. No, killing your threadmate and cuddling the body doesn't count.
☀ STEP FOUR: Keep 'em warm! Hot cocoa, hot coffee, hot tea, hot mustard, or other suitably warming beverages will be provided if you cooperate.
☀ STEP FIVE: Lulz ensue!

((Basically just a winter-themed cuddle meme, with evil ideas from Shae and Col. Add some cuddle urges in the air if your characters won't otherwise cooperate but you want them to.))

"I hope so," she said. "I know it won't be easy for you to see them when they're not here, anymore than it would be easy for me to see Aang and Sokka again, but I do want to see them, believe me."

As for being capable and attractive, Katara hoped he would find that out by a girl letting him know it: if there was anything she wanted, it was that her Bonded had someone who saw how wonderful he was.

"Then we'll go soon, all right?"

Billy nodded, reaching out for one last hug. "Thanks again. You're always saving me."

Katara was NOT expecting to know the names of some of the people he mentioned, but at the very least she heard enough about some of them to discuss.

"Well, Nanashi is sort of hard to place, when it comes to who she's attracted to," Katara admitted. "That Alessa, I heard she has someone, but I don't know who since I don't know much about her. As for Nura, well...she's pretty active. You might have a shot, I'm not sure."

She looked confused. "I don't think so. It's liquid."

"Whenever, yes," she said, grinning. "But warm up first."

And here, she only took his hands. "We save each other. So its ok."

"Liquid chocolate?"

He's still pretty baffled by the very idea.

"And, yeah, you see the discerning demon doesn't have a lot of choices on the ship."

"Yes, Katara said, and to demonstrate, she poured a bit down Zetta's "mouth."

She shrugged. "At least you know what that feeling is like. I'm still starting to understand all of that, honestly. It's very complicated."

"Hey! That's GOOD!"

Zetta's eyes lit up like rarely before as he licked his lips.

"...what feeling, lust? That's pretty instinctive. You just... do what comes naturally, it tends to be right."

"I thought so too," Katara said, smacking her own lips. "It's nice and frothy and tastes really good going down."

Here, Katara blushed. "Well that's...I mean, I guess, but its not like you ever would know when it's the right time to do such a thing, or how to even talk about it. It's so...private, you know?"

"Yeah, you humans get that all complicated with love, and romance, and stuff, don't you?" Zetta made an exaggerated face. "Not for us demons! We don't do 'love' and all that! Not for us. Hell, living alone is best!"

He'll say it repeatedly to make sure there's no misunderstanding here. No room for doubt! None!

Katara sighed. Yes, she should have known better than to even mention something like this to the Overlord. Chances were that he'd simply brush it off as something human, and when it came to this kind of thing she simply needed to get an honest opinion about what she was doing.

"I don't think I'd like living alone too much," she commented. "I like company."

No. [He's rather vexed by that, as a matter of fact. He plops down rather heavily onto a rock, blowing into his hands in an effort to try and warm them up.]

I don't suppose that ye found anything, did ye?

"Well, I found this." She brought out a hot mug of cocoa, which she'd previous never had before, but knew enough of the logistics to heat it up and mix the contents before serving. She passed it over to Jamie as well as a long, woolly blanket.

"Let's share that," she said of the blanket. "It'll keep us warm."

"Well, THAT particular sort of feeling is a me thing, not a demon thing... well, maybe a powerful demon thing." Zetta was attempting to articulate concepts that required a modicum of thought, so forgive him his difficulty in doing so. "When you're in the top leagues -- or on top of the top leagues," he interjected smugly, "everyone is either so much weaker than you, or a rival. I can still be on social terms with, say, Pram the Oracle, or Micky, but if they knew what kind of mess I was in right now, they'd be breaking down the door to try and beat... me....."

Zetta trailed off, looking downright alarmed. A new and shocking thought had occurred to him: WOULD they?

Katara wasn't quite sure what the Overlord was talking about at this point, although she was getting bits and pieces of it.She could see, however, that he was quietly internalizing something, and whatever it was seemed to have shaken him up a little bit. She looked over, a little concerned.

"I'm sure they would be trying to beat you. You are an Overlord still, right?"

"Hyaa ha ha ha ha! And they'd fail!" Of course they'd be trying to take him down! Pram might watch in amusement rather than participating, but everyone else -- how could they resist what they'd surely think was a helpless target!

"That's the rule of the Netherworlds! The strong survive and the weak fall! And no one's stronger than Zetta!"

Emotional growth -- AVERTED!

She would have put her face in her hands if she could right now. Ah well...it was just as well. Thinking about what he said and being thoughtful about his place didn't fit Overlord Zetta anyway. He was too...wily?

"How's Ruffnut doing?"

"Awesome. Those new lightning powers are kickass." And she's got a friend, Zetta didn't mention, because he wasn't entirely certain if that was a good thing. Still, there's unquestioned pride in his voice as he continues. "She is the best apprentice I've ever had."

"Lightning?!" That did throw Katara for a loop. Not that she minded that Ruffnut could do that, but was that something that she just was able to do, or was it something she acquired on the ship? "Did you teach her that? Huh."

She grinned. "Oh, I saw that enthusiasm in her when we first met. She's pretty amazing!"

*there's a hunter huddled up in his leather jacket*

Thank ye very much. [Jamie takes the mug gratefully, wrapping his hands around it.] Oh, that's better.

[And, oh, there's a blanket too! Jamie flicks a glance between Katara and the blanket, then nods. Using body heat is a good idea. He tucks one end of the blanket around himself and holds the other end open so Katara can come in.]

Aye, that's a thought. Hey...don't ye have anything warm to drink?

Billy...

[ She sighs, and cuddles up close to keep him warm while he works. After several moments of watching him and looking over the heater she finally reaches out to pull his hands back under the blankets. She closes the blanket again before he has time to protest. ]

Not gonna get anywhere with it. Cold's gummin' it up.

[ She almost protests as he puts the vest over her shoulders, but knows it won't do any good if she does. Watching him shiver is absolutely pitiful, though. Her hands come away from herself long enough to grab his and pull him down next to her. ]

Here--

[ The vest goes back onto Jamie, and Kaylee shifts enough to curl up under his arm. ]

Hey! [He's about to protest in return, but is too busy trying to fight off another attack of the shivers to really get the words out - well, other than the 'hey'. Before he knows it, he's re-vested with Kaylee snug up against him.] Oh.

[Why didn't he think of that earlier? He shifts position just enough so he can wiggle one arm free and drape as much of the vest over Kaylee as possible before his arm slips around her protectively. It's under the vest too, so she can't protest too much.]

Is that better?

"Matt did. After that whole anger virus thing, he described that sort of thing and it sounded like something she could handle." Zetta knew, after all, that Ruffnut didn't have too much torque in the gears in her head. Not that he cared, or that it mattered for his purposes; after all, brains were clearly not a requirement for "strongest Overlord in the cosmos".

"There aren't many humans that'd make a good demon, but she's one."

"You're welcome!" She said, and ducked into the blanket. She wasn't completely cold yet, but there was definitely enough of a chill in the air that she'd want to get warmed up very soon. She snuggled in next to Jamie, exhaling sharply with a "wooo" and making sure the blanket was wrapped enough around them to not let in cold air.

"Huh?" She was startled by the question. "Oh no, there was just one. How's it taste?"
