Oh yes, you do tend to have everything figured out to a certain point, assuming that was not all just rampant speculation (which I'm sure it is). Interesting to know you thought that far ahead about the extent of my mental mastery.

And...maybe, though I have to admit I'm not nearly as good at it with my actual body, I'm afraid. Having only a sliver of a tongue really limits the things you can do in that department.

You were walking in my memories. If you can do that, you can interact with me in my memories. If you can do that, you can interact with me in the present. And, well, what was that but 'interacting'?

Tongues aren't everything. You're beautiful and fun and expressive, and I like you! What else matters?

Hey, that line of logic actually makes some sense. Much more than other logic (bullshit) I've heard. But no, one simple muscle may not be all that matters but I do have far more practice with my neuro-powers than anything else. Though practice does make perfect (which is completely corny to say).

It DOES make perfect. Besides, some confused fumbling and awkwardness and imperfection can be fun. Not, mind you, that what you just did wasn't amazing -- I mean, you don't need me to tell you what I thought about it, you already know!

I guess you wouldn't have much chance to do things personally given that you can't be around too many people, but... why not take advantage of the option now while you can? And if you would allow me the honors, why, I would be pleased beyond measure to flatter you both in words and action to your heart's content.

(I'm pretty sure that after that little mental boot-knocking you're on a first-name basis with me though!)

Ha! I see your skills at diplomacy are quite (hilariously) extensive, too. It's a tempting offer, one that I'm sure you'll keep an open invitation to, right? It'll give me the chance to work up the nerve.

As far as first names go, I'll just let you know that my ex-girlfriend also referred to me as 'Mindfuck' through our (highly tumultuous) relationship! Maybe one day (unless I accidentally let it slip, that is).

Hey, it's not diplomacy, I just tell you the truth and my opinions. Well, that and I think you're a little afraid of in-person contact because it would mean surrendering some control, and you seem pretty big on control.

Really no offense meant, it was just his impression, after what she'd done and things she'd said to him previously. And all that came with it was a desire to help and be strong for her. Because it seemed like she'd never had someone to do that for her, and he thought that was a sad thing (and terrible idiocy on the part of anyone who had seen her without seeing her, as it were.

I will give you credit on figuring that one out, Mar. It's pretty (entirely) close to the truth.

As you can probably guess, it stems from the nature of my abilities and my history with them. I can almost always be in control of any situation, given the person I'm communicating with isn't crazy, delusional, has a psi-shield, comparable powers or a kludge mind. It's just a teensy (a lot) bit of a struggle to make sure I don't abuse that on any given chance.

Oh, well, if I ALSO had to guess, I'd bet you don't often talk to people as much or as long as you did to me.

But I'm willing to guess that if you feel yourself slipping a little, you can catch yourself within eight seconds or so?

Well, not many people are as excitable as you are about letting someone jump into their heads to speak with them. Which was much appreciated, by the by (I hate using that stupid comm thing).

And because I can be entirely immune to anything for eight seconds, including potential slips from you! So you don't have to worry about something going wrong.

Ha, well I promise (really!) that I probably won't try to test the limits of that in any way. Probably. Though I don't worry (much) about it regardless. I prune behavioral trees that lead down to actions like that.

Oh, I trust you completely! I mention it only to reassure you that there's nothing to worry about if you let yourself go a little. I think your mind and its touch might get a little interesting if your body is involved. In a good way.

Given what the conversation came up after, I'm sure you already know that's true to a certain extent. After all that buildup you'd better not be a disappointment.

That's especially (horrendously) true from where you hail. So then, I'm sure you won't mind joining me for a bit of liquid courage, then? I'll admit, it serves a dual purpose. The overactive, imaginative minds of so many children on the ship makes for a big headache for me.

Of course! "Brewmaster" is also one of my many titles. I'll make sure it's a drink to remember! Or two. Or whatever!

You're going to have to sit down one day and let me know of your many, many (hopefully colorful) titles. I don't think I'm quite satisfied with only one nickname.
