feather fluff friday!
if you had wings...

Don't you wish you could fly?
Uh, well...about that. Now you can! See, for some reason, Stacy / GLaDOS / a wizard thought it would a real hoot to curse (bless?) you and now you've sprouted wings! It doesn't matter if your species would look silly with wings, you're a book, you can already fly without them, or whatever else. Too bad, you're stuck with them!
- Post the wing type you got saddled with---choose one on your own, use a RNG to choose, or leave it up to your partner! Your partner can feel free to have wings too.
- Characters who already have wings can have them modified in some way: if they can only glide, they're now capable of flight, or they can spout glitter and rainbows upon flapping. OR you can add an appendage of your choice---horn? Tail? Tentacle? Go wild.
- React, laugh, and have fun!
Wing Types:
01. Fluffy Angel Wings - The typical type you probably think of when 'wings' come to mind - you're all fluffy and downy like a Cherub - not to mention...these are very sensitive to touch...
02. Black Wings - they're beautiful, but seem a little off - and they stick out like a sore thumb!
03. Filligree Wings - very slight, very delicate and very beautiful - these are like filmy gauze attached to your skin and the most managable - if you like spider webs.
04. Fairy Wings - two sets, lucky you, you look just like a butterfly, and man are they strong - but it's hard to get them all folded up right, isn't it?
05. Devil Wings - you're like some overgrown bat - maybe you should be the one avoiding public the most for now, these might poke someone in the eye!
06. Your choice! You don't have to choose any of these, as far as your imagination goes is fine. And if there's a wing type in your canon that makes more sense, go for it!

"B-Billy! Oh ah h-hi..." Eeep! She's embarrassed for sure.
no subject
"When did they grow? I...wow," he admired them, so tempted to touch. They were very different from his own new set.
no subject
She then tilted her head curiously at Billy and tugged on his coat. "Aren't you hot in that hun?" Says the girl who always sports a hoodie...
no subject
Here, he squirmed a little. "I am, I just needed a break from the attention."
What attention, you ask? He lowered the coat from his shoulders when he determined they were safe from spying eyes. Two delicate pure white wings stretched to their full span.
no subject
When she saw Billy's wings however, she jumped a little excitedly and smiled. "So pretty! How did you, is everyone sprouting wings now?" She asked curiously as she fawned over them happily.
no subject
"I don't know. I was on my way back from lunch break when it happened---I felt a flash of heat, then pressure in my back, and now this," he sighed, shrugging the coat off completely. He felt oddly vulnerable, having felt just how delicate his wings were.
"I definitely didn't want to linger long enough to get caught or see others. I threw the coat over in the hopes of protecting them from damage. They don't look nearly as sturdy as yours, and in that lab that could be a real problem."
Oh, Billy. Always looking toward the problems.
no subject
"Jus' think! All the research we can do while sportin' these!" An excited squeal as Ronnae bounced up and down lightly, her wings spreading and closing with the action.
no subject
Lying together was going to be really complicated, wasn't it?
"We'll need to widen the space in the lab," he started, "and I'll need to get more proficient at folding them out of the way. But it's true, there are new options available to us..."
His eyes sparkled with the possibilities.
no subject
"It sounds like it'd be amazing, I mean, I've flown in my devices before but wings?! Never! It sounds like it'd be so much fun to try out!" A small excited look on her features appeared as her own wings flexed and spread out, slowly coming around him in an embrace. She gave him a mischievous playful little smirk as she leaned up and gave him a peck on the lips.
no subject
"But you're flying first, love. Your wings appear much stronger than mine...I'm not even sure if these will carry me." A test as soon as possible was clearly in order.
no subject
Once they were apart, she smiled up at him. "Sounds good! I'm actually eager to try them out!"
no subject
no subject
Granted, her 'landing' was actually a trained technique she knew, but she just forgets that their worlds are different.
no subject
Sure, he could be protected in falling fifty feet when morphed, but now? Could he even morph with these new growths in place? That thought worried him a little.
"So you're still going first," he urged, flashing an encouraging smile.
no subject
Soon they found themselves atop one of the abandoned buildings in the city, looking over the horizon that was made up of different other rescued buildings.
Ronnie bounced with excitement, looking over the edge with a gleeful smile.
"Kay! Wish me luck love~" she said, putting out a playful peace sign at him and jumping backwards into a flip and dive. She was falling fast, the wind from the acceleration beating and making her ponytails sway in every direction.
When she felt she had picked up enough speed, she spread her sturdy wings and glided off, just before hitting the floor! "WOOOOHOOOOOO!" An excited yell as she soared upwards using the momentum and the air she picked up, soon flapping her new appendages awkwardly for a few minutes before being able to settle and hover in place.
Then after a few more, she managed to begin to move towards the building where Billy was waiting for her, unaware that she probably gave him a heart attack. Her happy expression was clearly evidence that she was okay and enjoying herself. "This is amazing!"
no subject
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the magnificent red wings stopped her fall. He wouldn't entirely relax until she was back with him, but her voice sounded like pure joy. That was a wonder to him.
He slowly stood, reaching out to take her hands when the very happy girl returned. "I...yeah, you did it. That was incredible."
Billy just wasn't sure if he could duplicate the feat. His wings fluttered apprehensively as he looked down at the unwelcoming concrete, a cold feeling growing in his abdomen. The longer he allowed himself to consider the likely possibilities of limbs tearing from the strain, a failure of flight, or some other disaster, the more fearful he became.
"Right. Now. I...uh, I need to try." Not to die, he added under his breath.
no subject
Stepping to the edge she winked at him. "Don' worry, I'll catch ya if the wings don't work~" It'd be easy for her, and soon she jumped off the side, practicing her hovering as she landed safely on the ground below, giving her lover a thumbs up and blowing an encouraging kiss his way.
no subject
He walked to the edge and nodded when she reached the ground, brushing a finger over one of his feathers. How was something so delicate and soft going to sustain him---magic, he guessed. If it didn't, he'd be rescued and healed. And there was always the backup plan as well. He plucked the power coin from his morpher, tucking it within his fist. In an emergency, a split-second morph would save him. What it would do to the wings was unknown, but at least he would live.
"I'm ready," he called over the edge, taking a step back. Then it was time to step forward. Once, twice, with a dive over the edge.
The air pounded his chest, his racing heart straining against it as well. Freefall like this was fascinating to study as the test subject, but the uncertainty bothered him. It bothered him very much, but the decision had already been made. He was going to land in excruciating pain or...
...fly. His wings spread at the same moment a crackle of blue light appeared in his hand, a spark of light activating what was almost an instinct. At the same moment he narrowly missed Ronnae, he disappeared in a white flash, reappearing considerably higher up in his Ranger uniform. The back of the costume had remodeled itself to include wing holes, allowing him to continue on with the glide. A flap or two brought him up---tilting this way was a turn---yes, maybe this was working!
He circled back, discarding the helmet and extending a gloved hand. "Phew, made it."
no subject
But as soon as he jumped, her worry was replaced with excitement. She was sure he could feel it. The thrill and rush of the adrenaline pumping through him through the freefall. Soon enough he soared past her in a flash!
"Woohoooooo~! Go Billy!" she yelled after him, jumping happily as she cheered him on. Her focus entirely on him as he glided up and down, white, beautiful wings extended majestically.
Once he came close she could help but have the goofy excited little girl grin. "You looked great out there! That was so cool!"
no subject
"I don't know how it's possible, Ronnie," he said breathlessly, wings fluttering to keep him hovering, "but it is. And my morph even shifted for it," he realized, reaching around to his back to feel the new wing-holes.
"Thank you, love," he breathed, taking advantage of his position for a light kiss from above. "Now...let's go together?"
no subject
"Now c'mon Mr. Cranston. You don' plan on keepin' a girl waitin' do you?" she giggled and started flying away, at a steady pace, she wanted to keep him in full view in case either him or her needed help.
no subject
"Ronnie?"
no subject
"Yes love? What's wrong?"
no subject
It wouldn't do for their wings to get wet, but he did want to try skimming above at a safe distance. He dove with a laugh, arms outstretched toward the ground---yes, river. He positioned himself over it, tossing his gloves aside and dragging his fingers through.
no subject
"This is so awesome, I'm so envious of winged creatures~!"
