The Naked Now

Oh, no, the ship has been flooded with a mind-altering contaminant brought aboard from some on-planet mission! (Good going, Crewman Redshirt. You'll see that in your pay this month.)

This contaminant has the effect of bringing to the fore the screeching, unreasonable, most likely highly embarrassing Id of everyone on board! Or maybe it just reverses your personality. How terrible and bad!

Feel free to be as hideous as you like. Or just giggle and make flower wreaths for each other. Or have silly slapfights with your friends oops sorry kirk.

Zouichi burst into the Hangar (they were totally in the Hangar, right), obviously excited about something.

"BILLY," he said, a good deal more enthusiastically than usual.

It took Billy a solid few moments to acknowledge Zouichi's presence. What? That was important? Nah, screwing this bolt in was more important. It would be rude to ignore a potential co-worker entirely, though.

Ever-so-casually, he bent back into a standing position, stretching his arms wide above his head. Yes. Work felt absolutely great. Finally, when he could no longer justify doing this, he lowered his arms and turned to face the other man.

"Have you awakened to the mechanic's calling?" Obviously those were the most worthy people.

"YES," Zouichi said, about as vehemently as those nice ladies in Herbal Essences commercials. "In fact, I want to awaken to the mechanic's calling RIGHT NOW. I'm going to put lasers in EVERYTHING."

"Then you are most definitely in the right place," the very passionate Billy answered him, guiding him over to the other side of the vehicle and pressing the tools in his hand. "It will all be yours if you can treat it well. Like this,"

And Billy flattened himself against his side of the vehicle, almost riding it. His arms slid up the side before working their way under the hood, all as he slowly bent over. Yes..lovingly pulling into place.

He was straining with the effort of lifting a heavier piece and absolutely loving the experience, if the noises he made were any indication.

Billy was so enthusiastic and dedicated! Zouichi grabbed a welding mask and began cheerfully searing off pieces of a nearby X-Wing. So he could add LASERS.

...it was too bad the hull was in the way!

"No, no---" Billy fussed, making his way over to rub the poor little hull. "It won't bend for you that way. You need to be heated and forceful with it---like so."

Snatching up a welding mask of his own, he pressed in hard. Actually, he didn't have much better luck, but don't tell him that.

Why, Billy. How suggestive. But Zouichi seemed completely oblivious. "Oh, come on. It's not how hard you press, it's about technique."

"It's likely a combination of both factors," Billy concluded, pulling back with a wide smile. "If you're going to be a great mechanic, you need to be creative."

With that, he gave a sharp tug, a twist, and a firm press to one of the components sticking out.
