Suddenly.

You are naked.

All of you. Even you, over there, the already naked guy.

Except for one thing.

You all have fig leaves over your privates. They cannot be removed or destroyed. They are large enough to cover everything. (They might itch a little)

Oh, and even already naked people with no visible privates will have the leaves, either over their naughty bits' actual locations, or just where they should be.

"Tell me about it. We have beauty rules that require spending hours of every day and large amounts of money to follow, and I don't have the inclination. So I've always been fairly unattractive, but that never interfered with my work so I didn't see the need to fix it."

Pause. "But the girls have been staring at me occasionally since this happened, and I'm not getting the negative impression of before. So I don't think I understand much more than you do."

He shrugs, tilting his head back up. One more thing had confused him. "Unfinished? That..." A squint at the dark shapes. Wings. He reaches to his own flat back. "Oh. Now I see how strange we must appear."

Not to mention tails, claws, fangs, horns, ridges of various kinds . . .

"Strange, not so. Only different." He chuckles, and smirks, though Billy cannot see it. "It would be wiser of you to trust the opinions of the females over yours or mine in this case. Have you begun courting any of them yet, or were you involved with a female back on your Earth?"

He's about the right age, as far as Goliath can tell. Maybe even a little older - humans grow up so fast.

"Right." Billy manages a small smile.

Huh. Somehow he's progressed from being awkward about his state of undress to talking about girls. Well...he supposed this was what the other guys did in the locker room.

Ah, the hard questions. "I've never had a steady girlfriend. I had to keep my crime-fighting duties a secret, and no relationship could last if she was locked out of a significant part of my life. I danced with a few girls and they attempted to begin preliminary courting with me, but nothing came of it because I couldn't offer everything I had."

He omits anything he may have thought about his teammates, the only girls he could have dated back home.

"I don't have to hide part of who I am here, but I still haven't been involved in a relationship of that nature. I lack significant time to invest in pursuing a relationship, yet I've still felt attraction to someone." Judging by his blush, he probably doesn't want her to see him right now.

"Perhaps in those cases, it simply was not meant to be. In my experience, inconvenience cannot eclipse real love."

It just makes it very, very difficult and keeps it on a perpetual down-low.

"Do I know this person?"

"That may be true, since I don't know the first thing about real love, but I was also afraid. I couldn't allow anyone outside the team to bond too closely with me because they would be used as bait. That happened to my parents, and it would happen to anyone else we befriended."

Billy curls his arms over his stomach and checks to see that no one else is listening in. "You might know her. Her name's Mei Ling, and she's one of our communications experts. She's one of our sharpest crew members, and she's an expert at socializing as well. We discuss books we've read during slow periods on our shifts, and we had a wonderful day together during shore leave. By my standards, she's quite beautiful."

It's confirmed, someone has a crush. His voice softens when he talks about her.

"I do not, but I will remember you to her when we meet."

As Billy speaks, Goliath smiles approvingly. "I wish you luck in your courtship. If she is the right one for you, then I am glad for you both. A trusted mate for whom one cares and comforts and cares for and is comforted by is a treasure of the highest order."

Someone's a romantic.

That declaration is enough to draw a smile. It reminds him of Mei Ling, yes, but other people as well.

"I think I've already started to learn that with platonic love. When I find a mate, it appears that I have much to look forward to."

There's an almost-dreamy look on his face by now. He's completely forgotten any embarrassment.
