No More Secrets

1. All of your character's darkest and most embarrassing secrets, the ones that they have been holding back from the crew, are now common knowledge.

2. Since not everyone knows everyone's canon, comment with your character and a bulleted list of the things they have been holding back from the crew. These can be funny things (that time I ran around with my underwear outside my pants), embarrassing things (Little Black Book-type secrets) or the dark things they never wanted anyone to know.

3. Other characters react to these sudden revelations about your character. Will it change the way people feel about each other?

IMPORTANT: PLEASE POST WARNINGS IN THE SUBJECT LINE IF SOMETHING IN THE COMMENT IS TRIGGERY. This meme has the potential to be a lot more dramatic than our usual fare, and I want to make sure everyone is comfortable.

Atton used to be a Republic soldier. He's fought in wars. He's killed people. That's no big deal, right?

Well, it gets worse.

He went over to the Sith during the Jedi Civil War that rocked the galaxy following the Mandalorian Wars. He was groomed to become the perfect assassin and kidnapper. And he was one. He would track down Jedi and capture them. And then he would torture them. He would inflict agony on them until they were useless, broken shells and then he would kill them.

But what he really liked to do, what he enjoyed, was breaking their will and turning them against everything they had once stood for. He was a war criminal. Until one Jedi changed that. She opened his mind to the Force and she showed him all the pain he'd been inflicting, showed him what he'd done - and showed him that he was Force sensitive. That one day, he would be pulled out and broken down, turned into another Dark Jedi. And then he killed her for crawling inside of his head. He killed her because he "loved her".

And that is his secret.

And then he ran. He ran away from the war, from the Jedi and tried to hide himself, to lose everything in the teeming mass of beings that was Nar Shadda. He became just another smuggler, another lowlife and tried to forget. He tried to hide. And so far, he's been successful.

Nanoha Takamachi

Nanoha's pretty open with most of her stuff - she doesn't have a lot to hide - but she doesn't tell most people that she's been fighting evil as part of an interdimensional police force since she was 9.

Or that she has a reputation as an absolutely terrifyingly tough combat instructor who on at least one occasion has disciplined one of her students by knocking her unconscious for several hours (in all fairness, her student was being very reckless/dangerous and could have gotten herself/her partner killed if it hadn't been training).

Asuka Langley Soryu - Death

Asuka suffers from immense psychological trauma. When she was very young, her mother was severely injured during a test of Eva 02 and was retrieved - but changed. She no longer saw Asuka as "Asuka". Instead, she treated a doll as if it were her daughter, ignoring her very real, flesh and blood daughter, even when she was in the room.

To compound the abandonment issues that spring from this, her mother committed suicide - hanging the doll that she believed to be her daughter with her. Asuka discovered the body. So, Asuka hates relying on anyone - because to do so would be to admit that she is a child and weak. But she detests being alone. She wants to be noticed, to be cared for, to truly be the center of attention - because it validates her and her low self-esteem, self-image and helps her deal with her abandonment issues.

She's pretty screwed up.

She's afraid that she isn't the best pilot and that it's goign to get her kicked off the squadron. She's afraid she won't be noticed. That she isn't special anymore.

Karis has done a lot of horrible shit. She's slaughtered innocents, tortured enemy prisoners to death, killed people for getting in the way at the wrong time. She's helped shelter people who have made an incredibly nasty chemical weapon. And she'd do it all again if Sylvanas ordered her to. She's a fanatic.

But part of her wants to be human again. She wants to be alive. She wants to be able to feel the breeze in her hair and on her face, to cry, to laugh, to feel. She wants to be able to love again. She wants to be able to see colors. More then anything, she wants her old life back.

-Has feline tendencies due to Tamaranean evolutionary history. She can be found curled up cat-like sometimes, is meticulous about cleaning herself, and....yeah.

-Kisses people to learn their language. Has never actually used this ability in-game :( but it would be great for freaking someone out.

-Has no nudity taboo, as some people found out to their horror in the bathhouse.

-Her sister hates her and has tried to dispose of her in various ways (slavery, forced marriage, murder) but all Star can manage is firm disapproval and sadness.

-She sometimes peers out a City window at night, wishing with all her heart that Robin was beside her. Missing him tears her up more than she'll admit to anyone except Beast Boy.

1. The hatcheries and the war! Draconians were created from stolen dragon eggs, and probably 50 or more eggs were warped by dark magic in a batch. The hatchlings were then put in a massive chamber, and forced to fight and kill to get enough to eat. So... he's killed a bunch of his brothers. And the war stuff, the fact that he's killed a lot of innocent people and doesn't regret it at all isn't really a secret; he'll tell anyone that asks about it.

2. ...he has parent issues. He has a healthy dislike of metallic dragons of all types, especially bronzes, and feels abandoned and betrayed by his parents, even though he has no idea who they are or if they're even still alive. In fact, he wouldn't mind one bit killing them if he ever found them.

3. He didn't use magic for a while because of faith issues with his former goddess, Takhisis.

4. Kang was a huge, huge derp when it came to courting Fonrar, to the point where she had to initiate most things because he didn't want to push anything on her and mess it all up. The fact that he raised Fonrar from hatching, along with the other first girls ever, and that she's really only five years old (though she is most definitely an adult) isn't something he's ever tried to hide, but it's kind of tied to this. :P

5. He's started up a spy network on the ship. For the benefit of the crew as a whole, really! Mostly, they'll do stuff on missions that require spying, but every now and then they'll be ordered to spy on crewmembers that are suspicious. He's also not helpful around the ship for the sake of being helpful; he believes in unity in the face of adversity, and knows that they'll only stand a chance if they all work together. Once the war is over, and everyone's worlds are restored... have fun with your lives. He's got shit to do at home. :|

6. ...Second Life. Uh. He had a fake!wife there, and we all know what most married couples, especially ones that are trying to have children, do. Even though he knows that he can't be blamed because of the false memories, he still feels extremely horrible for this.

-Despite being great at chemistry, he cannot cook at all. He was so horrible at a cheese souffle that it exploded.

-Was terrified of fish as a child and only overcame it two years ago. Still can't eat them.

-Once was under the influence of a potion and bullied the high school nerds with his underwear hanging out.

-Crushes on Mei Ling, heart pings when he sees her. Has also started to feel for Sofia in the long absence (the dance advice post was about her) and is so terrified of his feelings and the potential mess.

-Very recently ended up naked in a tub with two sexy women and was more embarrassed than excited. Well...okay, a little excited. But that wasn't his fault and he was terrified of them finding out.

-Michel is a sniper like his older sister, who was courtmartialed and committed suicide after she missed a shot and killed her commanding officer immediately following drama regarding an affair. He became a sniper partially to follow in her footsteps and partially to clear their family name.

-He's a womanizer who never commits only because he believes that military pilots who could die at any time shouldn't.

-His best friend from childhood is Klan Klan, a Zentradi (race of giants) whose "micronization" (turning human-sized) process is flawed, rendering her either a 40-foot-tall giantess or looking like she's 12. She's in love with him, but he's purposefully oblivious and she doesn't tell him (and he doesn't realize it back) until right before he dies.

OKAY. Uh. Since I don't think I could possibly detail EVERYTHING that Marco is holding back it would probably be easier to list the things he doesn't hold back, I'll just note the major points here...

- Marco can morph
- from the age of 13 to 16 he was a guerrilla fighter fighting against the Yeerks. Lots of killing, blowing up stuff, morally dubious actions, etc etc.
- in the beginning, he didn't want to fight. He only kept fighting because he found out his mother was a Controller at first.
- and speaking of his mother, when he was 11 she apparently 'died'. Then it turned out she was really a Controller and infested by Visser One. Then later on Marco nearly ended up basically plotting to kill her because he couldn't figure out any way of actually freeing his mother. Except he couldn't actually kill her in the end. Also there was much emotionally falling apart going on. ADN THEN he ended up saving her, only for her to convince him to let her get reinvested so they could stop all-out war on Earth. FUN TIMES.
- After Eva 'died', his father basically fell apart and sat on the couch for two years, leaving Marco to essentially take care of himself and his father. And then later on his father married Marco's maths teacher (THE HORROR!), not knowing that Eva was actually still alive and slug-infested.
- he also didn't try to save his step-mother from being infested as much as he should have (hello guilt!), and also lied to his father about how long she'd been a Controller for because deep down he wanted his parents back together again.
- he's morphed humans without their permission before, and would do it again if he needed to
- he nearly got stuck in morph as a giant flea. Nooooot fun.
- he tried to kill Iniss on the ship along with the other Animorphs, Loren, & Elfangor. And given the opportunity, he'd try it again.
- he has also been working as a spy on the ship, for Kang.
- he never got a girlfriend at all until he was 16 and the war was over. And after that he mostly managed to get them by pure virtue of being REALLY REALLY FAMOUS
- he drives like a maniac and only got his license through bribery
- he's self conscious about his height
- the Animorphs come before anyone else, and Jake comes before the other Anis. Sorry guys, but given a choice he'll save them over you.
- also, Rachel is dead in the future! Apart from Ax, Marco has neglected to tell anyone this.

- Has always had attachments to his Zoids that border on the unhealthy. Back home was just extremely fond of his Pteras to the point of nuzzling it and cooing about how much he loved it; on Stacy his attachment to the Geno is a little more bizarre, in that he views it as the closest thing he has to a friend or confidant, clings to it like some kind of giant deadly security blanket, and is both disturbed and titillated by how potentially powerful it is.

- Is really good at ~domestic~ things like cooking and cleaning. Secretly misses doing laundry. Has used frantic cleaning binges as a method of coping with extreme stress.

- Had an alternate personality named Wild Eagle who eventually got his own body due to events in their previous game. They hated each other, so they were only too happy for this development.

- Keeps girlie mags in his Zoid's cockpit.

- Has an incredible aversion to tomato soup.

- Is pretty sure he's going to die during the war.

- Misses his dad and has been thinking about him a lot since Fairplay.

Kaylee Frye

WARNING: MAJOR SERIES SPOILERS.

~Normal growing up stuff--she built her first engine before she even started school, lost her virginity at fourteen, got caught in the barn having sex with a fourteen-year-old when she was sixteen, all that good Growing Up embarrassing stuff.

~Kaylee actually got the job on Serenity when Mal caught her and Bester (the ship's previous mechanic) having sex in the engine room. Kaylee fixed the engine problem where Bester couldn't, and Mal hired her on the spot. Also, thievery.

~The fact that Simon and River are fugitives, and River's past with the Alliance that Kaylee (along with the rest of the crew) has kept secret.

~Her being shot by Lawrence Dobson, a twitchy fed who was after Simon and River. Kaylee walked in on a tense situation, and Dobson freaked and shot her in the stomach. Simon then proceeded to use Kaylee's life as a bargaining chip to get Mal to run from the Alliance cruiser Dobson had contacted. Because of this, Kaylee is terrified of guns and fighting, that's no new piece of information.

~She's scared of not being able to fix her ship. This happened to her once, and resulted in Zoe almost dying after pushing Kaylee out of the way of an explosion in the engine room, Mal being shot and almost dying, and the crew as a whole almost suffocating/freezing to death.

~Mal and Wash were kidnapped and tortured by Niska. When Wash was returned to the ship, the crew turned right back around and invaded Niska's station to get Mal back. Kaylee and River hung back to guard Serenity, but several of Niska's men cornered them in the ship. Kaylee, fearing being shot again, dropped her weapon and ducked out of sight, then watched as River picked up the gun, glanced at their attackers, and shot all three with her eyes closed. So yeah, she's a bit scared of her best friend and her own inability to help even when it was Mal's life on the line. Guilt.

~Early. Early was a bounty hunter who sneaked his was onto Serenity mid-space. He cornered Kaylee in the engine room after locking the others in their bunks, and threatened to rape and then murder her if she didn't tell him where River slept. Kaylee told him. (Luckily, River wasn't there, and everything turned out alright, but she feels guilty as hell for betraying her best friend.)

~On Stacy...she hides a lot of her reactions to things, ie: the Nightmare King, Punishment, etc. She also worries about people a lot more than she lets on, particularly Wash, Jamie, Billy, Dean, and Kang.

Cargn

Keeping out a couple big ones that relate to Main!Plot, since I still want those things to be surprises.

Anyway:

-Not exactly a secret, but Cargn comes from a reality where the good guys are a fascist, totalitarian, xenophobic empire based on one of the most hardcore religions ever. It's the Crapsack World to end all Crapsack Worlds.

-Cargn has killed thousands of innocent civilians during cleansing operations to stop daemonic incursions on Imperial worlds. He has always viewed it as unfortunate but necessary to prevent larger catastrophes from occurring.

-Cargn's first kill was at 15 years old. As part of his training, he was forced to choose between executing a known murderer or an innocent survivor of a daemonic incursion. He chose the latter, to prevent the possibility that the survivor had been corrupted from his encounter with the daemonic. The murderer was later recycled into a servitor unit.

-Even though his familiar's (http://l-userpic.livejournal.com/94201050/19935383) official designation is Unit XXVI, he refers to it as Sigmund. This is because the skull that was used to make it belonged to Cargn's old friend, Inquisitor Sigmund Lowen. Sigmund died fighting side by side with Cargn, and so Cargn honors him by allowing him to continue to serve the Emperor even after death.

-Cargn is responsible for the destruction of an inhabited planet. While an Inquisitor Lord was ultimately the one who issued the order, it was Cargn who strongly suggested the measure be taken against a world that was on the verge of a daemonic apocalypse. The Grey Knights strike cruiser he was commanding at the time also participated in the bombardment.

Goliath

Goliath doesn't so much have "secrets" as he has "things I don't like to talk about, so I won't."

1) His ex-wife orchestrated the betrayal of the humans they protected in Scotland to Vikings, and, as a result, the death of their whole family. She then became an immortal bent on the genocide of the entire human race. They broke up because he wouldn't help, and also because she worked together with Xanatos to trick him into committing crimes. And shot him. A couple of times. And put him under a mind control spell that, in a very technical sense, he might still be under. And tried to kill his new girlfriend Elisa a couple of times. It still took him about a year of this to completely get over her.

2) He has an evil clone. The evil clone is 1) able to fight Goliath to a standstill, 2) a master schemer, 3) morally bankrupt, 4) materially loaded, 5) a creeper. Seriously.

3) So hey remember that Elisa woman who was here just long enough to get gutted before being repodded? He is so in love with her, you don't even know.

4) Was human once. Briefly. It was awkward for him.

Hoshi Hikari -- Horrific Injury

Silly to serious for me:

She used to wet the bed when she was a kid. That problem was quite obviously fixed.

She pretended to be a superhero one day by running around her house with a towel around her shoulders, in her socks and a pair of shorts. Her "superhero" name? Super Hoshi.

She cannot stand broccoli.

Despite her father being a military man, she never learned how to wield a gun at all.

Hoshi is afraid that she's grown up too fast to not enjoy the childhood she had with her parents as well as her team.

She's definitely not comfortable with sharing what happened with her arm. What happened was that her arm was pinned underneath a pile of rubble during a battle. She tried to force the debris off of her bruised, broken and bloodied arm, tied it in a makeshift sling by using the sleeves of her shirt while already weakened by the nonstop battles from BEGA. She still ended up losing anyway with her team taking her to the hospital. To correct her badly damaged arm, she had to get metal plates, rods and screws to reconstruct it. Down side? She can't let it get cold, her range of motion in the arm's cut down by three-fourths and the scars aren't something she's entirely too used to having. So, she tries to keep them covered up as much as possible.

She harbors a deep hatred for Volkov and BEGA, but it's more so Volkov himself.

She absolutely fears letting herself, and her friends, down, as well.

It might not look like it, but she has a masochistic streak about her. This results with her desire to protect the ones she loves, but it still stands. She can also ignore a great amount of pain.

She really doesn't care about herself nor does she take good care of herself. She trains until she's exhausted, she fights and defends the ones she loves and she tries her best to protect the weak.

Fate T. Harlaown - Mention of child abuse

- She was physically abused and neglected by her mother, just because she though Fate was a failure as a clone of her true daughter, Alicia. Precia would whip her whenever she did something wrong, and ignored her pretty much the rest of the time.

- She still has scars on her back from this abuse, but they're not really that visible (plus, her hair always hides them). She'll become very self-conscious if she thinks people noticed them.

- Fate still hasn't told Nanoha about That One Attack Mei-Xing hit her with back during the clone plot. She's actually kind of afraid to, even though it's not her fault.

- Fate doesn't really consider herself a lesbian! That would imply she's attracted to women, but the only person Fate's ever been physically or emotionally attracted to was Nanoha. She'd still feel the same way if Nanoha was a guy.


... And that's it, really. :|a Fate's a very open person, so there's really not a lot of DEEP DARK SECRETS she has.

1) His father gave him that scar. It's not really a secret, but he doesn't like to talk about it, because chances are it's not any of your business.

2) He retroactively views his uncle as his father-figure, and is going through the process of dismissing his attachment to his biological father as that archetype.

3) He plays the tsungi horn. No one must know.

4) He's set innocent villages on fire, taken Katara hostage, intimidated and bullied peasants of the Earth Kingdom and his ex-crew, captured Aang and dragged him out into the tundra, and basically was the Gaang's biggest enemy for most of the time that he knew them.

5) Having friends again is pretty new to him. When he stops to think about it, he's surprised by how little he's stopped to think about it.

6) He's the Fire Lord. You probably didn't know that yet, but he won't be too shy about mentioning it.

7) His sister is insane and in an asylum. He feels bad for her. She has messed up his life a lot and he's used to hating her, so feeling bad for her feels weird and uncomfortable.

- Went through the typical rite of passage for troll pupae before acquiring a lusus; in other words, saw a lot of her peers slaughtered and did some pretty terrible things to avoid sharing their fate.

- Had a fairly serious crush on Vriska and still resents Tavros for getting her.

- Cut off Tavros's legs in her timeline -- allegedly just so he could get replacements, but see resentment above.

- Tasted her own lusus's blood. It wasn't any good.

Aqua [MAJOR spoilers for BBS]

-Aqua has been lost in the Realm of Darkness for at least ten years, though even she can't tell how much time passed. During that time, she became very depressed and pessimistic, even suicidal. It was only the mysterious arrival of Ven's and Terra's Keyblades that kept her from giving into the Heartless and the news that Sora saved the worlds that renewed her hope.

-The news that the worlds were lost again has made the depression harder to fight, but she pretends to be strong for her friends here. She wakes up with nightmares remembering the Heartless surrounding her.

-Only Rein knew this, but being raised in a household of only guys? Aqua's kinda clueless on important girl matters. Her clothes had to be custom-made to support her breasts because she had an ill-fitting bra. And you really don't want to know what happened with her first period, but it certainly involved the most awkward talk with Master Eraqus EVER.

-Mei-Xing isn't her real name, it's Deng Pai. She adopted the identity of Mei-Xing to keep her mother safe when she became a shadowrunner.

-She worshipped shadowrunners as a child, growing up in the brothel her mother worked at. She viewed them as modern day folk heroes, either not learning of or not paying attention to the monsters.

-The orgasm spell was originally devised as a way to distract her Yakuza guards in between periods of being tortured.

-Mei-Xing has tortured people in the past, and will do it again in the future if she has to. She prefers it over using a mind probe spell, but her favored method is to break someone before invading their minds and ripping the information directly from their skulls after they're too weak to resist.

-She's somewhat vain and will get surgery to remove any scars. She's had to have her hands reconstructed several times, and one total facial reconstruction after a run-in with a troll physical adept.

-Mei-Xing has killed sixteen people herself in almost fifteen years of being a shadowrunner. However, she's responsible for the mass poisoning, and death, of over six hundred innocent people. She'd been tricked by her Mr. Johnson. This led to her falling out with her father, and the reason her clone is missing a lung. She's also twisted situations and manipulated people to cause the deaths of dozens more.

-She has a very powerful water elemental hiding in the river, waiting for an order.

-For the past five years, she hasn't worked with a team. This is because she has been the sole survivor of several groups. One of them was slaughtered in Chicago by gang members and a toxic spirit, another team was flayed alive in front of her during a mission in the Walled City of Kowloon, and the others were killed in various jobs. She attributes this to her willingness to run when necessary, but in actuality she tends to panic in situations where she stands a good chance of being killed.

-Her fear of death comes from trying to square off against one of the Yama Kings, who claimed to be a judge of Hell. She failed and spent six months in a mental institution, and still thinks he's waiting for her. Before being grabbed by Stacy, she was still going to therapy.

-She does use the orgasm spell on herself, during lonely nights.

Miku's fairly an innocent person, who just has a problem with incredibly bad luck.

- She discovered her mother's body swinging from a cherry tree after Miyuki went insane via Camera Overexposure.

- Miku really loves her brother, Mafuyu. To the point that she walked into a haunted mansion and ended up trapped there for five days looking for him. When she found him? He chose to stay with the dead woman. He was then crushed to death in a cave-in.

- Consistently lies to herself on a regular basis on the ship about things being normal, so that she doesn't go crazy.

- She has watched innocent girls be tortured to death via her ability. Occasionally, she has nightmares about the same thing happening to her.

- Miku knows way more about ancient Shinto religious rites held in rural areas than she really should. Most of these include the sacrifice of innocent, spiritually-aware girls.
