NAKED MEME
Suddenly.
You are naked.
All of you. Even you, over there, the already naked guy.
Except for one thing.
You all have fig leaves over your privates. They cannot be removed or destroyed. They are large enough to cover everything. (They might itch a little)
Oh, and even already naked people with no visible privates will have the leaves, either over their naughty bits' actual locations, or just where they should be.

Here he took a seat on the grass, finally catching his breath from all that tickling. Smoothing his hands over his skin to make sure the lotion had still been applied in all that chaos, he said: "True, but I can't imagine us choosing this."
Tilting his head, he briefly glanced in her general direction. "Speaking of Renne, he told me something interesting today. His people's clothing changed its opacity based on whether a person was honest. If you couldn't see through their clothes at all, they were lying to you. His people had to see each other as they really were. I just thought it was interesting."

She shrugged. "Probably not. I mean, I can understand how some people are more comfortable doing something like this, or even flirting, but it still makes me feel weird. My world isn't as relaxed as some others."
She smiled. "There'sd still so much about Renne that I don't know. But he's awfully sweet, and I can sense something about him that makes him different from the people on the ship. It is interesting though. But as a Bene Gesserit, I'm told to look a the way people look and act, their body language. Only really good liars don't give off anything like that."
no subject
Billy folded his arms over his chest and nodded. "I'll never master the art of deception, but I'm sure you already knew that. I can't lie to Renne either---in a bonded relationship like ours, there's no room for untruths."
no subject
She smiled. "That doesn't surprise me. I'm curious though: how did you meet Renne, and from the kind of bond you two have in the first place?"
no subject
Peeking up through his hair, he tried to smile at her. He hadn't thought 'baring all' would go this far.
"We met in the hallways. He was playing pirate with himself, and I was in enough of a whimsical mood to join him. As soon as he realized I was human, though, he backed away in fear. He told me that humans hurt him again and again, almost without exception. I knew I wanted to prove him wrong, so I tried to reach out to him."
"It took a few tries, but eventually he started to see that we weren't all bad. We both knew pain, and we shared that with each other. Soon, we shared joy as well. After a few meetings, he'd sensed that I wasn't about to turn my back on him. That's when he pledged his loyalty to me and we bonded."
Smiling by now, he continued. "We visited each other's soulscapes on that first day, and we retreat there whenever we need to talk in peace with each other. There, he taught me how to transmit emotion back and forth and communicate without speaking."
What would she think of all that? Somehow, his words had kept rolling and rolling until he'd revealed so much.
no subject
She had not heard this part about Renne, and without warning, she started to tear up. She'd never known Renne had been hurt by humans, that they would ever harm someone like him (not a thing, no way she would ever think of him as a thing again). Her hands clenched, and as Billy got further into the story, she felt her heart start to open a little. This is what she'd been saying about Billy all along. The talk of soulscapes made her remember a friend of hers, but there was no name and face, which meant another Stacy taken memory.
Oh that. Was that what Renne had been trying to teach her before? It might have been.
After the story, there was no stopping Katara from giving Billy a big hug, nakedness be damned.
no subject
During the story, he felt himself starting to slip into the memories of emotion too. How he'd felt his old loneliness come roaring back when he met Renne. The way he'd tried to save another soul from that shadow. The results he never expected. So although Katara usually had a cool grip on her emotions, the response he heard didn't entirely surprise him.
What did surprise him was when he saw her move and felt her press against him. Without a thought he reciprocated the hug tightly enough to be secure but not squeezing and suffocating, resting his broad hands on Katars's upper back. He was made very aware of their nakedness, but being there for a friend mattered much more.
"Ka---Katara, he's okay now. So am I."
Sure didn't stop his cheeks from flaming, though.

"I know you are, and I know now that Renne is too. It just...it really means a lot to me when I see someone like you trying to do what others should do, what I've tried to do whenever I could. I never got to know Renne as intimately as you had months earlier, but I can't imagine not having met him now. The idea of him suffering alone makes me sad, but knowing you were there just capitalizes what I've been saying about you to begin with. I just hope you never forget that."
She smiled, and released the hug. "Uh, sorry about doing that. I know that must have been pretty startling!"
no subject
"There's still time to get to know him better, and he already likes you. I'm not the only proof he has that humans aren't all enemies. You're one of the people I trust most to show him that---heck, sometimes you still show me that."
When they broke apart, she'd notice that despite the blush he finally seemed comfortable in his own skin. The tension had finally broken, and the warmth inside was overflowing so much that he needed to draw some out. She would notice his hands cup.
"It definitely was, but you don't need to apologize. I think I needed it too." Just then, light started to flow from his body and into his cupped hands, where it twisted into a ball. Soon, it was strong enough for him to extend his hands and offer it to her.
"This is solidified joy. I can use it to comfort people or heal minor injuries, but I'm still new at healing.."
no subject
"I like him too: he might be hard to understand, but I think it had more to do with how he looks at things and less about how he speaks. But I would never try to hurt him, how could anyone?"
As for showing Billy the better parts of himself, she just smiled. "You already have all of those great qualities I love in a person Billy, you just need to be reminded. It makes sense that someone like Renne would see it first, and that you'd form that bond with him."
Now, solidified joy? That was something very unexpected. One would think, with all of the magic that Katara had been exposed to by other people on the ship that it would not have surprised her, but it did. She gazed at it in wonder.
"I'm kind of a pro at healing, but never like this. It's beautiful."
no subject
The longer they talked, the brighter his light glowed. His happiness and gratitude came out in light instead of words.
"It's all right, you definitely won't have competition any time soon. I can't heal much more than a shallow knife cut. But you can touch it, here,"
Reaching out, he fumbled for her hand, finally caught it, and brought it close. If she touched it, she would feel her own happy thoughts surface as well as glimpses of his. It was warm like a loving hug.
no subject
She was still trying to understand that, actually, but she supposed it would have to wait. Right now, she was still staring at the glowing light in Billy's hands. For some reason she couldn't keep her eyes off it.
"Bending, any kind really, requires practice," Katara said, smiling. "May I?" She indicated the light.
When he nodded, she brought her hands to it slowly and was suddenly engulfed with good feelings: friends, strength, love. She knew those feelings obviously, but it was as if they were amplified ten fold now, and she could feel something of Billy there too, mingling with her own feeling. She let out a laugh, open, mirthful, free, and gazed at Billy happily.
"I felt you Billy," she said, and she closed her eyes. "It was...wow."
no subject
Billy waited anxiously as the light touched her. It was wonderful, powerful, but it also contained a piece of his soul. Something he wouldn't share with just anyone. Today was the day for exposures, it seemed.
When her feelings became apparent, he joined in her laughter. "I hope I showed you my good side."
After a moment of letting her feel it, he asked: "Do you want to try it? Someone as disciplined as you could learn very easily, and it wasn't hard even for someone like me."
no subject
That good feeling seemed to run up her spine and back down again, and before she could stop herself, she did a full on cartwheel and back flip, laughing. Yeah, she could definitely feel the good part of Billy swirling around her now: the strength of his bond, his dedication to his friends, his eagerness to learn. It all came together in a wordless jumble that all made sense.
As if to answer, Katara cupped her hands together, closing her eyes. It took a minute, as Katara had never done this before, but soon her hands started to shine with a light of its own. It was a little smaller than Billy's as he knew Renne longer and had had his instruction, but she moved over to Billy, and took his hands in hers.
He could now feel all of HER experiences and happy feelings too: meeting Aang, learning her bending, the love of her people and friends, the day they had finally ended the war. He could feel them coupled with her new experiences on the ship, her love of the family she created here on the ship, even the deep melancholy of missing Aang which had a layer of love remembering all the wonderful times they shared.
no subject
He watched patiently as her light flowed out, bright enough to pinpoint even with his atrocious vision. "Right, like that." So disciplined and in control that she didn't even need instruction.
When Katara took his hands, he closed his eyes and welcomed the comforting shine as it drifted up his arms and entered his core. He let it flow through, allowing the sensations of the memories to touch him. He now knew a part of her---how she loved, her life's outlook, and just what Aang meant to her.
It was that last thought that drew an upswelling of compassion and urged him to slide his hands up to her shoulders, squeezing warmly. "I hope you find each other again soon. No one should have to feel that pain. But in the meantime...you've given us here on the ship so much. I can only speak for myself, but I want to return the favor however I can."
no subject
But if Billy was wondering why this had looked easy for her, she'd had a LOT of time for meditation and doing things that were beyond the material world: her last teacher and friend had helped with that. In truth it still required energy and chi, terms she was certainly familiar with.
As for this, she knew that this was a sacred experience to be shared with someone special, that Billy was seeing the feelings she didn't tell anyone because they were her own. Although a part of her was really, really happy, that part she was hiding about Aang was out too, and the tears were able to come, flowing even with her smile.
"I know you would," Katara said, and squeezed his hand. "I hope I can find him soon too...the months have been hard, and even with everyone here, including my brother, he doesn't have quite the same feelings I have about Aang. He has someone that he misses as much though. But thank you for saying that Billy. I would give anything to help the people here, and I know if Aang were here, he'd say the same thing."
no subject
"I hear you," he agreed. "I was never in a relationship at home, but I still miss my best friends. I can only imagine how much worse it would be to be separated from someone I loved that way."
He called out one more flicker of light from their joined hands, urging it to dance around her and provide warmth.
no subject
"I just wish I'd had more time," Katara said, sighing. "We traveled together, but then I was still trying to sort out my feelings, concentrating on our mission. I never dreamed that the Avatar would single me out as the person he cared the most about, nor I him. It was like...something that slowly sprouted, and then it just surrounded the two of us."
It sounded weird, talking about it like it was a plant, but that was what made the most sense to her right now. When she felt that last surge of joy from Billy, she gave him a small kiss on the cheek.
"Thank you Billy. I've been keeping that in for a little while."
no subject
He paused and closed his eyes, thinking it over some more. "But at least you know now. As soon as he wakes up, you can take that step."
Starting to slip into his own thoughts about the situation, he opened his eyes in surprise when he felt her lips on his cheek. And when she said that?
That was enough for him to overcome the awkwardness barrier and wrap her in a gentle hug, tucking his head over her shoulder. "I'm glad I could help, Katara."
no subject
But THAT was a memory she wasn't so hot on reliving at the moment. It wasn't that she minded telling Billy, but that it was one of those moments when she had truly been scared out of her mind. The thought of losing Aang that day had been very real, and she realized that might have been when she knew what she felt for him was more than just "friends."
"Yes," Katara said, smiling. It had been long, but she would have to have faith, that was all. Losing focus and believing all was lost would just be a way for her to stay in a place where Aang never came, and she never believed that to be true. He would come, he HAD to.
The hug intensified their happy feelings, and she leaned into the hug, actually happy. Anyone else would have thought there was something going on between the two of them, but they knew better. "You did, tons. Thank you Billy."

Grateful that
Sokka wasn't around to grind him into a meat pulpno one was watching them and getting the wrong impression, he leaned into the hug as well. Any awkwardness resulting from so much skin contact was supplanted by friendly love and worry for the person in his arms. The very moment he thought that, a warm light started to glow in the middle of his chest and radiate outward. He thought it might have spread to Katara too, but his vision had gone white too quickly to squint at anything.
When the strange morphing-like sensation faded, he realized three things: first and most importantly, he could see clearly again. His glasses were back! Second, that meant their clothes had been returned. Third: he could actually see her smile for the first time that day. And that was enough for him to flash her a wide grin.
"Finally," he breathed, "though the timing of this event seems suspicious"
((Just an idea I ganked from other threads---characters who reach an understanding with each other get their clothes back and are free to go. Hope that's okay?))

The hug she and he shared was interrupted slightly by a warm feeling that started to encompass the both of them. For a moment she thought it might be another emotion Billy was sharing with her when she realized she not only felt less naked, Billy was actually wearing his glasses! She returned the grin, and looked down, glad to finally be clothed even though she had been feeling less uncomfortable about it with Billy.
"I agree," she said, "Unless there was some way that we triggered our clothes coming back. That would just be weird though."
no subject
"Weird, but not impossible. An event happening after another isn't proof that one caused the other, but it should be taken into consideration. And we were dressed again after we shared ourselves with each other and stopped feeling discomfort. We could have learned a lesson, or perhaps if we were being unethically being experimented on we provided all the data that could be collected."
Whatever it was, he was too relieved to worry excessively---and silently grateful for the opportunity to learn more about his friend. That was the most important thing now.
no subject
"Well, I don't know," Katara said. "It seems coincidental otherwise, and I'm not one for random circumstance. Besides, if the key to the clothes coming back was us not feeling uncomfortable, Kaylee would have her clothes on already. She seemed like she enjoyed it. Wouldn't her clothes have come back because she wasn't bothered, and anyone else who weren't all that concerned about being naked?"
It was all hypothesis and, like Billy, she was happy to have gotten to learn more about him and Renne. It was funny how it had started with her trying to help him, rebounded and then ended with her finding she was able to so something she had never attempted in quite that way before.
It was possible that her befriending Renne might have been the catalyst.

He laughed with a slight blush. It was fading into a funny memory easily enough, but he could still remember how afraid he'd felt at first.
Billy took the opportunity to drape an affectionate arm over her shoulders, looking at her sincerely. It was so much easier to do this when he could see what he was doing! "But whatever it was, I'm relieved that you're the one I solved it with. It easily could have been worse."
