NAKED MEME

Suddenly.

You are naked.

All of you. Even you, over there, the already naked guy.

Except for one thing.

You all have fig leaves over your privates. They cannot be removed or destroyed. They are large enough to cover everything. (They might itch a little)

Oh, and even already naked people with no visible privates will have the leaves, either over their naughty bits' actual locations, or just where they should be.

[Squeak. He turns to the side to scratch under Renne's chin.]

To your people, hiding with clothing was a sign that intentions were hidden as well. There's an understandable logic to that.

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. How-e-ver, One dis-co-ver here, is fur-ther Logic. Cold, to One, thus, One have furs, to cre-ate Warm. What mean-ing, Clo-thing have to thee here?

::Purr. Likely unsurprising but yes, he gets an ear-skritch when Renne can find said ear::
morphitudinous: (Are you reading that correctly?)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-07-03 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Nervous-laugh. He knows it's irrational to be worried about it when Renne can't even see him, but it feels weird.]

As you said, it provides protection. On my former world, it was too cold to walk around naked for most of the year. It's also practical to wear clothes to protect our bodies from excessive sunlight, dangerous chemicals in the lab, and dirt and rain flying through the air.

Different clothing is suitable for different tasks. We all have a uniform on the ship, and ships on my world also had uniforms to show who the crew members were. There are casual clothes for children playing, formal eye-catching outfits for important social events, and clothes designed to draw attention to each other sexually. It's complicated---my other friends would know more about it than I would. I've never been fashion-conscious.

Fash-ion? This is...to...find a Bond-mate? Pe-cu-li-ar. This is, pre-lude to Hsliss-ah-sirsi?

The Great-Warmth of thy world is dan-ger to thee? How?
morphitudinous: (Ripples)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-07-03 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Sexual contact? Yes, that's the general goal in certain situations. Most humans will do almost anything to stand out from the crowd and improve their chances of being selected.

We need small amounts of exposure to our sun to trigger our bodies to produce vital vitamins. If we stay out in the sun too long, though, the light radiating from the sun damages the cells that make up our skin. In the long term, that can lead to illness and death.

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. Yes, this. ...Does not thy world have Shield-Against-Warmth?

::Blush. He's just so blasted curious.::
morphitudinous: (...what in the name of)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-07-03 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, we have a natural shield called the ozone layer. But the radiation is strong enough in direct sunlight to penetrate that barrier if we stay outside unprotected for too long.

We've also invented shielding substances called sunscreen to apply to our skin.

[He wishes he had some right now. He'll probably come back to the ship burned all over. How pleasant.]

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
This is...Thee must only be in Warmth for so long? Or Warmth creates Disharmony>

::There's a small frown then. For some reason, it comes across to him as Earth being a very, very cold place:
morphitudinous: (Ripples)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-07-03 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
We can stay in the sun for much longer periods if we wear clothing or sunscreen. And there are humans with darker skin colors adapted to living in sunnier environments. Pale skin like mine is more easily damaged.

[There's a small ear-tickle then, trying to avoid the leaves.]

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Eeee. ::Squeak. Ear-flick. Then a gentle nosing::

Ah. They are too...what is word...? Al-bi-no of thy world?
morphitudinous: (Adorkable's the word)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-07-03 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not quite an albino, but I'm one of the most easily sun-damaged people found on my planet.

[Small laugh. When he's sure no one's looking, he clambers out of the water and sits in the shade next to Renne.]

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. Al-bi-no, of thy world, not Dark-of-Skin?

::Ear-flick. That look? Prelude to "Fascinated! Wanna know MORE!"::
morphitudinous: (Default)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-07-03 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
They're opposites, yes. But we have actual albinos on our world with pure white hair and extremely pale skin. I have a larger amount of the melanin pigment that controls darkness of hair and skin than albinos do. More melanin means more protection from the sun.

[Oh, Renne's curious about him again is he? Huh.]

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
::He's nearly always curious!::

Ahh. Thee have ar-mour a-gainst Warmth, if Warmth grow too strong, yes?

::Curious and protective::
morphitudinous: (Default)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-07-03 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Clothing and sunscreen, neither of which I have access to. For the moment I'm trying to stay in the shade, where the sun's rays are somewhat obstructed.

[That gets a hair-ruffle. Thanks for worrying, buddy.]

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
::Squeak. You get a poke in return. But don't look now; there's that "I'm gonna solve something" look::

What is it, that cre-ates Disharmony to thee, from Warmth?
morphitudinous: (w/ Zack: yes we're awesome)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-07-03 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Just my body's makeup, I suppose. If I had too much melanin, I would overheat in my climate. Darker colors absorb more of the sun, which is why we usually don't recommend wearing black clothing in the summer.

[Honestly, though, he'd be happy to have any clothes at the moment. Even in black.]

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
One not wish thee, pain. For now, how-ev-er...Clo-thing, seems be-yond reach.

::Chirp. He's got that look on his face still. Bee wants a set of clothes? Imp's already attempting to figure out how to arrange that::
morphitudinous: (:()

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-07-03 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Unfortunately, I believe you're right. But I'll survive somehow.

[He curls up closer to the tree, somewhat comforted to have a shelter nearby. Not too close, though, as the bark is rough on skin.]

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Eeee.

::Chirp. He's crawling and sniffing about again. Not too far though, and he's...gathering up every soft leaf he can find.::
morphitudinous: (...what in the name of)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-07-03 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Squints. Huh. Renne has...are those things in his paw green?]

Are you making a leaf collage? We don't have a book.

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Eee, noh.

::Squeakchirp. Some of these are decently sizeable but given they're all still green and supple, he's careful with them. The ones he has now? He's trying to put them all over you, Billy, one by one::
morphitudinous: (Silly)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-07-03 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
No? Then what...

[Renne is...decorating his body with the leaves. Is this an art project? Is someone hiding behind a bush with a camera? Eventually, he thinks back on his thoughts of the last few minutes and realizes that the imp is trying to clothe him. Which draws a laugh.]

Thanks, but you don't need to do this. I'm all right.

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-07-03 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Eee. Bee wahn-t, Rrrr-enne trrry ge-t.

::Chirp. Any opportunity to spoil you, Billy, can and will be taken. Shamelessly::
morphitudinous: (Positive)

[personal profile] morphitudinous 2010-07-03 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Hair-ruffle]

And I honestly appreciate that. But how is this going to work? I don't think these leaves will stick to me like the other one.

[That, and it kinda tickles.]
